Main dining on Sky Princess

Hi, we have just booked Sky Princess for next March. We haven’t sailed with Princess for ten years so a lot has changed. I’m just trying to book our main dining evening meals. I see that there are three restaurants are they all the same?
Also we like to eat early at 5.30 and would rather have set dining time and table - is this possible these days?

Thanks for any help or advice.

The menu is the same in all three.

It may be possible but you would need to talk with the restaurant manager once on board, but there are no guarantees.

We were on the Sky for a 14 day Med cruise this summer and we’re able to reserve the same table for two in Soleil for the entire cruise. We had a 6:30 reservation time and the first evening when we checked in requested a table for two that was separate and offered a bit more room and privacy then the long line of shared two tops. They found us a great table with fantastic servers so we locked it in for the same time each night of our cruise. It was no problem at all. The first evening in the restaurants is generally light because people are still getting situated, especially at your preferred time of 5:30. Just get to your preferred dining venue a bit early and speak with the manager and I’m sure they will be happy to accommodate your request. I got the impression they prefer to have reserved guest tables wherever possible as it ultimately makes it easier on the front desk staff and servers.

After final payment date open the Princess app and select dining options. You have the opportunity to book dining for each day or for the whole cruise.

We will be on the Sky shortly and booked a private table for 2 in a dining room at 5:30 for the whole cruise. Once onboard, if you like the table and waiters you can ask the host to reserve that table for you for the rest of the cruise. This will possibly work because you are the first in the dining room. Don't expect the same if you book dining after 6:00 pm.

I'm surprised that nobody mentioned the "meal plan" reservation option either in the web version or the app.  There is the option of booking the same restaurant/time for every evening for the entire cruise.  You just would not be guaranteed that it would be the same table.  If this is acceptable to you it can be done yourself entirely online before you board...no need to chase down a head waiter (or whatever they're called now.)

I recommend making your reservations well ahead of your cruise.  We waited until onboard and found the task more difficult.  Having said that, 5:30 is not a super busy time and you would be able to “walk up” most nights without a reservation and no waiting.

Soleil Dining Room has a good location;  Estrella is also good but you might find yourself walking through the Casino to get to and from it;  Cielo is a little harder to get to because you have to access it from only one staircase from the floor above.  I think our preference was Soleil.
