Nassau: Pearl Island or Baha Mar?

Hi there,

We'll be in Nassau next month while on Celebrity Summit.

We are having some difficulty choosing from snorkeling at Pearl Island or the Baha Bay Water Park at Baha Mar resort.

Anyone done both, to help me choose wich one should we do for the first time?

Any reviews on each are much appreciated.

TIA

Sílvia

The Pearl Island area is on the ocean side of the island.  Snorkeling so good that boats come out there and drop passengers in the area.  From the island it is a shore entry.  HOWEVER, last time we were there the waves were high enough that people in the boats were having problems getting back in their boats and you weren't allowed to snorkel from shore.

We’ve done neither, but they are two very different experiences.

We stayed next to Baha Mar and the water park and we never went there, we only went to the resort restaurants and casino. Guests of Baha Bay do not have beach access, of course, while the Pearl and Rose Island excursions are all about the beach, pigs, snorkeling, etc.

Have you read reviews on the independent excursions to these islands to get a good feel for what you would get?

Not allowed to snorkel from the shore because of the waves?  Or because of rules?  We have our own equipment and were planning on snorkeling from shore
