ckpan Posted June 9, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 9, 2004 On my 8/27 Legend cruise, there are 8 9A's (2 on each of 4 decks) and 6 of them are still vacant. What's worng with the 9A's? Did I make a mistake booking one? Carnival Festival 5/1985 Carnival Legend 8/2004
tef43 Posted June 9, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 9, 2004 9A's are great, but seriously overpriced. Eleven cruises so far. Up next: Carnival Valor 10/30/05 CC Group Perhaps something else as well. Watch this space. Dance like it hurts, love like you need money, and work when somebody's watching.
Stillfloatin' Posted June 9, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 9, 2004 I sure hope not. I booked 2 of the 8 on the Destiny for Feb 20th. The other 6 are already sold. Destiny 05 Dream 04 Sky 03 Fantasy 98 Ecstasy 91 Norway 89 Life is good
jfritz126 Posted June 9, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 9, 2004 There is nothing wrong with the 9A's at all. They are gorgeous and have so much room it's amazing! And the balconies are huge! But they are expensive so maybe that's why there are so many left. We were in two of them on the Miracle on the Verandah deck. They say they hear no noise from the elevators at all. The people in the 9A on the Panorama Deck said they heard some noise from the galley. ckpan Posted June 9, 2004 Author #5 Share Posted June 9, 2004 jfritz ~ I'm in the quad 9A on the Verendah deck on the Legend. Was one of your your 9As a quad? As far as price, it was cheaper than the Cat 11 suite and the only difference I saw (besides a bit smaller than the suite but not by much) was that it didn't have a VCR or whirlpool tub which we wouldn't use anyway. We're a family of 5 with our 5th booked a couple of rooms away with friends but wanting to stay in our room. Hence the decision for the bigger room. jfritz126 Posted June 9, 2004 #6 Share Posted June 9, 2004 I didn't stay in the 9A. I was right across the hall in 7260. But we were in these two rooms because we wanted to check them out. Which room number are you in? jfritz126 Posted June 9, 2004 #8 Share Posted June 9, 2004 Yeah.....that's the same room that was directly across from us (7260). We were in that room (on the Miracle) and it is very nice. We tossed around booking that one for the Legend in May but just didn't want to spend that much money since it is just two of us and we just don't spend enough time in our room to make it worth it. But it is a very nice room....almost as nice as the suite my SIL & BIL were upgraded to on the Miracle. jfritz126 Posted June 9, 2004 #10 Share Posted June 9, 2004 It was more than huge!!!! It was 185 sq ft. There was loads of room on there. We even tipped the steward and he brought me a lounge chair from the deck to use on the balcony. Your balcony is also a nice size. mafiadon Posted June 9, 2004 #11 Share Posted June 9, 2004 You will love the 9a's my last cruise I had one and booked one on the Valor next year. I won't sail in another cabin if I can help it. Be glad there are many left you have a good chance for a price reduction. On my last cruise ours were all book so no price reductions. Don't worry about the room it's great. ckpan Posted June 9, 2004 Author #12 Share Posted June 9, 2004 Aren't 7303 and 7260 handicapped rooms? Can't you get bumped out of there if someone who is handicapped wants it? Carnival Festival 5/1985 Carnival Legend 8/2004
ckpan Posted June 9, 2004 Author #13 Share Posted June 9, 2004 I can't get a price reduction because all the 9A quads are gone. Only the 9A doubles are left. Carnival Festival 5/1985 Carnival Legend 8/2004
jfritz126 Posted June 9, 2004 #14 Share Posted June 9, 2004 Yes....7260 was a handicapped room but we booked this room from the beginning. I'm not so sure how they do that because there was a handicapped person in the room next to us which was not a handicapped room so I'm not so sure how it works. But the handicapped rooms are very big with huge bathrooms. ckpan Posted June 9, 2004 Author #15 Share Posted June 9, 2004 Jfritz & Linda~ Just noticed that on another online site I can get Rooms 7303 (for us) and inside 7309 (for the kids) for the same price as my 9A quad. Would you keep the 9A or go for the two rooms instead? I might incur a cancellation fee from my online TA if I change though. cjar855 Posted June 9, 2004 #17 Share Posted June 9, 2004 I am on the Pride (9/12) in the cabin below next door 6232 and was told this was also a handicap room. I wasn't aware of this when I booked. What is the difference in these rooms. Iwas just happy to see the size of the Balcony..Are all of these Bathrooms larger?
quote:
Originally posted by jfritz126: Yes....7260 was a handicapped room but we booked this room from the beginning. nanaknees Posted June 11, 2004 #18 Share Posted June 11, 2004 I booked a 9A [7299 Verandah] on the Spirit to Alaska for 2005 because I got such a good deal. They were pricing out cheaper than 8B's which is what I was going to book. The 9A's stayed that price for a couple of weeks, and then I noticed the price shot up. I have only been on 1 cruise with an oceanview cabin, and my husband and I wished we had gotten a balcony. I didn't know anything about these 9A's, but it just looked too good to pass up. Sounds like it will be a nice cabin. I'll keep my eye on the price as it gets closer to our cruise just to see if I can even get a better deal, but right now, it's almost $400pp more! crzndeb Posted June 11, 2004 #19 Share Posted June 11, 2004 9a's are the best especially when you get upgraded from a 4a guarantee like I did on the Spirit on an 8 day Exotic West. Carib. Seriously though, they are really nice rooms.
noodle Posted June 11, 2004 #20 Share Posted June 11, 2004 nanaknees...I am also booked into two 9a cabins next May for Alaska. My in-laws are in the cabin next to us. We too paid the lower price and see that now they are more expensive than the 11s. On our cruise there is only one 9a left so I think they raise the price to get people to booke the 11s and the 8s. I have heard nothing but good things about the 9a cabins on this class of ship. Pride 02/15/04 Spirit 05/11/
Jett456 Posted June 11, 2004 #21 Share Posted June 11, 2004 It looks like the 9A on the Upper Deck on the Legend is partially obstructed. Is this so? Has anyone stayed in there? I'm thinking of upgrading (maybe) I'm booked in a 8C but Carnival sent me an email today that they are running a special. So maybe.......
nanaknees Posted June 11, 2004 #22 Share Posted June 11, 2004 Noodle - I don't know how many 9A's are left on our cruise. We are sailing in September/2005, but you are probably right about the strategy they use. I hope we love it. My concern was having the elevators close by creating a noise factor, but I've read where this doesn't seem to be a problem. Now, I just need to figure out the air fare when it gets closer and decide if we should go a day early for less stress.

CabinForFour Posted June 12, 2004 #25 Share Posted June 12, 2004 I have some pictures of a 9A on deck 6 (cabin 6461 on Victory) at the link below called "Two Little Sailors." Look in the albums for Charleston, Day at Sea and Freeport for photos of the cabin and huge balcony. Our party also had the two adjacent L-shaped 8A cabins, so when we opened the dividers, our adjoined balconies were about 75 feet long!
