Beverage Package for one person?

Any recent experience with only getting the beverage package for on guest in a stateroom?  We have a drinker and a non-drinker sailing together.  I know it says that both guests must purchase, but I'm wondering if anyone has had any varied experiences?  Is it even worth calling and trying? Or is it always a hard no on exceptions?

There are exceptions for medical, recovering alcoholic, you may want to call.

Upcoming Ascent sailing and we booked premium for one and zero proof for the other. Called since it can't be done through app or website. Did not ask about forgoing package all together for 2nd guest but was not an issue to get alcohol for one and non for the other.
