Does anyone have any suggestions about how to get the most out of the atlantis. We (my husband and I) are traveling with our children (7 and 17 year). This being our first cruise and this will be our 3rd port. This is the main reason we wanted this cruise was to spend time at this resort(including gambling):p :p . The excursion does'nt appear to be enough, any suggestions?

First book a room at the Comfort Suites. I paid 151.00 last Dec. Book quickly cuz it fills up fast. This will give you full acess to the slides, pools and stuff. The digs were really cool. The CS is right across the street. When you check in you can choose to leave the key or use the room for cleaning up later. The rooms there are not that great but who cares we weren't sleeping there.

We spent alot of time in the water. I have boys who love to swim. We had lunch there and it was very expensive. $76.76 for basic sandwiches and pizza for the kids and drinks. Can you say Ouch!!!

We looked at the Digs. That was really cool and we went through the gift shop in the Digs. There are high shops in the hotel. didn't stop since the boys are not shoppers. Probably saved a bunch by not stopping. We found that there is not enough time to do all there is to do. We did not gamble since our kids are younger than yours, swimming and sliding was the main deal.

If you are not into the slides then don't do the CS thing. You can just get a taxi over there and walk around. you can see the property and gamble with no problem, To use the pools you need a band. Attendants check it when you are on the slides. If you want to see pictures send an email address. :)

On our cruise the excursion we booked got cancel. So we simply took a taxi to Atlantis. I not sure what you are looking to do. You might contact Atlantis and see if you can book a room for the day. That way you can do everything that they have to offer. Atlantis was a beautiful resort, but the public areas are limited. I do believe they offer a couple of packages so that you can experience a little more. Good luck!

Do you Have to pay for the dig or any other attraction at atlantis if you are a guest at comfort sutis?

Probaby. It's a good racket for the Comfort Inn. Most people don't even use the room so they just collect the cash and laugh. They even charge an extra cleaning fee. I tried to get it removed since I wasn't going to use the room but they wouldn't budge. I should have gone in and messed up everything huh???:D

The excursion we took started at 8:30 am but it was open ended so don't think you have to come back at a particular time. We could take a water taxi back at any time we wanted. Some people stayed and then took a regular taxi back to the pier or to do more sightseeting elsewhere. We were at Atlantis for 2 hours which included losing a couple of dollars in the slot machines and the casino was dead, dead, dead at 11am so unless you're there later, don't count on it being much fun. Most people at the hotel who were up were on the beach. We did an excursion because it was our first time there and preferred the organized tour we got for it. There are public beaches and you dont' have to pay for a hotel to use them. We'll be going back this Nov on our Carnival Glory cruise and plan on going to one of the beaches after I research it some more. Of course the Glory is only in Nassau from like 10-2 so we don't plan on doing a lot. We had lunch at Senor Frog's this last time and probably will again. For two of us it was like $30 including margarita's. I don't see the point in paying for a hotel room.

I just had a "free" stay at the Atlantis. You used you room key (just flashed it at a person) to get into the dig, and beach etc. So I KEPT my key, as I'll be cruising in May and HOPING I can take my friends thru there with my deactivated key.

The 7 and 17 year old can't gamble and the price of food and drink there is nuts.

Split up and do a couple of smaller things.

When you are exiting the ship there are a tons of places you can rent skooters - $40. $80 for two - your off and touring.

As the alternative - last fall, DW and I took the water taxi to Freeport. We walked to the casino - maybe 1/2 mile. We walked around inside and got oriented.

She stayed in the A/C for a couple of hours and I walked to the free public beach. It's maybe 1/2 - 3/4 of a mile.

You can rent chairs/ umbrella/ rent a jet ski or just hang out on the beach and swim.

When I had my fill I returned to the casino and picked my wife. We stopped for a drink on the way out and listened to a local band.

Got in the water taxi and was on board in no time.

The taxi was $12 - I think. I spend $30 for 1/2 hour on a jet ski, drinks and her play ( which she refused to tell). Overall it was a cheap port this time.

Has anyone just done the $29 tour of the dig? We have no interest in the pools or the beach.....I just want my family to see the beautiful aquariums at Atlantis....and the Chilhuly glass in the casinos. All of us are over 21. If we take a taxi to Atlantis and do the Dig tour and spend some time at the casino.....would we have a good time?

Anyone know if the dig artifacts were placed there for atlantis or if they were found there and are authentic? ty

The DIGS "artifact" are not authentic. They are obvious fakes, just like most of the Atlantis Facades. The only original artwork is the Ghiluly Glass Sculptures in the lobbies and casinos

Yes I think you would. Plus you can do a little gamble (just beware, they don't serve any drinks until later in the day so take y our coke or whatever in there) you can do some window shopping etc.

Because I have a cruise in 38 days and just spend 4 days at the Atlantis, I expect this time we'll just window shop, casino a bit, and get back to the boat. There really isn't much to Nassau IMO.

Yes, my wife, 16 yr. old son and myself took the ferry over for a few bucks, tix to Digs for $29 and just walked thru pool area and over the really cool rope bridge, had lunch at the overpricied deli and walked around the marina looking at yachts (as we are boaters). This filled the day. Took a taxi back to ship for a different perspective and just shopped at the t shirt stores for a short time. Back to ship and relaxed at pool where steel drum band played and this really was a very complete day. See no real reason to hang at Atlantis any longer. Beautiful place- no question- but now we can say we saw it. Next port...

Is the beach at Atlantis "public"? We are only in port for 6 hours, so I don't want to spend too much time travelling.

I'm thinking that we could go to Atlantis, do the Dig tour, then stay and use the beach - can we just stay in front of Atlantis, or is that private and we need to move somewhere else?

Thanks!!
