We will be in Juneau mid September and would like to go to the Gold Creek Salmon Bake in the late afternoon. Would we be okay as a “walk up” or should we buy our tickets ahead of time?

Thank you!

Yes, you can walk up. We have rented a car in Juneau and done it on our own a couple of times. The price is actually slightly less because as a walk up, they charge you the local rate. It's a fun way to spend some time in a beautiful setting and the food is good. There is a nice short hike to a waterfall and they have had a singer there providing entertainment as well. Worth the investment in our opinion and we would go back again.

Weve done the same as karatemom2.....rented a car and just showed up.  But we bought the tickets ahead of time on their website. Kind of tricky to find on your own so do some research via a map before you go.  A bit pricey pp, but the food was plentiful and very good.... especially the salmon!  If you go in July, the salmon are running in the creek adjacent the camp.  Allow 1 1/2 hours to experience the entire property. Also, the limited parking was confusing, but there was an attendant who told us where to park.

It’s been a few years, but the last time we were in Alaska, as we got off the ship, there were a lot of excursion seller booths and one had an offer for the Gold Creek Salmon bake that included a shuttle ride up and back in the price. We booked the salmon bake for later in the afternoon and went on an excursion shuttle to Mendenhall Glacier. When we got back, we went to the salmon bake. I think we booked both with the same group. Everything went as planned and we had an enjoyable day in Juneau. We will be back on a cruise to Alaska in May and will probably do the same Mendenhall tour. May also do salmon bake again. Have a great time in Alaska

How long does the Salmon Bake take including the shuttle there and back? Would this be possible to fit in after a whale watching tour? We're in Juneau from 7-3.

Thanks,

I am not sure of the time frame and don’t want to give you misinformation. Perhaps you can contact the gold creek salmon bake website for information and a contact phone number.

Thanks,

What time is your whale watch cruise, or more specifically when does it end? The salmon bake requires 1.5 to 2 hours, plus transit time. Have you checked their website for serving times the day you are there? They tend to vary slightly each day based around the schedules of ships in town. Your question is very hard to answer without additional information.
