Car Rentals near Brooklyn Cruise Terminal

We are from Massachusetts and thinking of renting a car here and dropping it off near the Brooklyn cruise terminal.  We would then rent a car to drive home after the cruise.  We are 6 people and all want to travel together.  Where is the closest car rental to the cruise terminal? Also, what would be the best way to get from the car rental to the cruise terminal?

Doing a search for car rentals near the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal on Google Maps yields the following:

I would take an Uber or taxi to travel between the cruise terminal and a car rental agency. There's no need for everyone to take the taxi or Uber between the two particularly given how many people are in your party.

Drop everyone but the driver and also drop off all the luggage at the cruise terminal, then drive the car to the car rental agency to return it. take an Uber or taxi back to the terminal. reverse the process on the trip home.

All the major car rentals have local offices just a few miles away in the area called "Downtown Brooklyn". Hertz Local Edition (HLE) on Union St just 2.2 miles away. Avis or National on State Street 1.5 miles away.

Instead of renting a car, why not take the train? The one way charges for the car rentals might be a fortune.
