roupa Posted March 10 #1 Share Posted March 10 Will be in Barcelona for two and a half days (3nights) pre-cruise. Looking to schedule an itinerary … realistically knowing we won’t see it all. Staying at H10 Catalunya Plaza 1. Midday arrival, so for a half day, thinking of just wandering that area depending on jet lag. 2. 1st full day…. a city tour(suggestions??) to get acquainted with the city then a nice dinner 3. 2nd full day… early tour of Salgada Familia then Gothic Quarter? easy walk? Taxi? 4. 3rd day noonish head to cruise port after leisure morning ( coffee/breakfast on the plaza) Thanks for suggestions!

Hi Apart of Sagrada Familia, which doesn't need to be introduced... let me suggest you to read these threads in the forum - One day in Barcelona, Gothic quarter - One day in Barcelona, Montjuic mountain - Wanna move away from Barcelona for a day visit? - Transport in Barcelona. How to move by underground, taxi or whatever - how to deal in Spain. Some customs - Just in case you have to move by train somewhere Edited March 11 by alserrod

CynBeth6 Posted March 11 #4 Share Posted March 11 In addition to Sagrada Familia and Parc Guell we saw Casa Battlo and Casa Mila as well as Montjuic castle for the little time we had prior to our cruise in July.
Clonmelgal Posted March 12 #5 Share Posted March 12 (edited) I really like the hop on hop off bus. Get off whenever you like. I do research at home, maybe a small guide book. I have had one too many bad experiences with guided tours. They cancel, don't show etcetera. Rick Steves has two free and enjoyable walking tours on his site app. I spent 2 days pre cruise last year and followed this plan. Please buy Sagrada Familia and Parc guell tickets at home. The are impossible to buy on the day. You may need to buy Museum tickets early too. Edited March 12 by Clonmelgal Photo

alserrod Posted March 12 #7 Share Posted March 12 I do not recommend HOHO bus because it doesn't cross Las Ramblas (despite other buses as public transport do) and it is A MUST Even it is impossible to approach Gothic quarter. I would say Gothic quarter deserves a full visit and it doesn't require transport. Barcelona HOHO has two lines but they are based in going to the mountain and new quarters rather than oldest ones
Clonmelgal Posted March 12 #8 Share Posted March 12 There is a HOHO stop at Placa Catalunya which is at the north end of la rambla? Also it stops at the Colom/Musee maritim which is at the south end of la rambla? This was how I accessed it myself.
alserrod Posted March 12 #9 Share Posted March 12 I would suggest to walk around this route (in the first post) which, in google maps is something like https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Drassanes,+Barcelona/Plaça+de+Catalunya/Basílica+de+Santa+María+del+Pi/Plaça+Reial,+Barcelona/Catedral+de+Barcelona/Plaza+de+San+Jaime+-+Plaça+de+Sant+Jaume/Plaza+del+Rey/Calle+de+Montcada/Basílica+de+Santa+Maria+del+Mar/Museu+Picasso+de+Barcelona/@41.3814114,2.1645532,2028m/data=!3m2!1e3!5s0x12a4a258095f2359:0x15e622ccfb2611fc!4m77!4m76!1m15!1m1!1s0x12a4a257476b9689:0x8e815306a27dd60f!2m2!1d2.1758663!2d41.3767353!3m4!1m2!1d2.1713865!2d41.3812886!3s0x12a4a2f62f79caf7:0x6d186162c7cf56b5!3m4!1m2!1d2.1719606!2d41.3821076!3s0x12a4a2f64a178ed7:0xeb5dbda4b8e4a5d7!1m10!1m1!1s0x12a4a2f1602b4819:0x1eecc2af1c60d64b!2m2!1d2.1700471!2d41.3870154!3m4!1m2!1d2.1729656!2d41.3856744!3s0x12a4a2f0ccd6ea5d:0xf21ea466042c1c19!1m5!1m1!1s0x12a4a2f7949d96c7:0x6db4a1a0bd2c6a29!2m2!1d2.1738023!2d41.3823031!1m5!1m1!1s0x12a4a257e581ce27:0x90dcec0919a87166!2m2!1d2.1752743!2d41.380052!1m5!1m1!1s0x12a4a2f996716c83:0x16f6112475e15883!2m2!1d2.1761991!2d41.383962!1m5!1m1!1s0x12a4a2f8f889070d:0x87638fb381ba334e!2m2!1d2.1770236!2d41.3826971!1m5!1m1!1s0x12a4a2f90c49a327:0x5afcc89c7d7eb3fb!2m2!1d2.1773472!2d41.38416!1m5!1m1!1s0x12a4a2fe8bb6c2a3:0xb163fd70c1ee9680!2m2!1d2.1810493!2d41.3850135!1m5!1m1!1s0x12a4a2fe5e0da457:0xb4bc945c1fc0e160!2m2!1d2.1820711!2d41.3838871!1m5!1m1!1s0x12a4a2fe99bce26b:0x27011e710700cc63!2m2!1d2.1809472!2d41.3852706!3e2?entry=ttu Here's a comparaison about my walking tour (you will not need a guide, just follow the route) and the hoho bus Blue line: My suggestion Red line: Bus hoho Green spots, the only three spots near Gothic quarter My suggestion crosses the full La Rambla It means walking accross this street Bus hoho drives through Via Laietana It means driving, with one stop here It is not bad but.... Via Laietana is NOT a must in Barcelona La Rambla is a MUST in Barcelona If someone takes a hoho bus.... he can choose between walking or not walking accross gothic quarter.... but several must will be lost. In my route there are - la Rambla - Cathedral - TWO bassilics (Santa Maria del Pi and Santa Maria del Mar) - Gothic quarter - Born quarter - Picasso Museum and more for 4,8 km tour walking Now, everyone can choose between bus or walk
