I always feel sad when formerly much loved ships end up at the wreckers (inevitable as that may be). There's something sobering about seeing photos of partially demolished cruise ships, particularly ones with which I am familiar.🥺

I didn't realise they scrapped so many ships but I guess they have to make room for the monsters of the seas.

That and a lot of ships were scrapped due to the pandemic, including a few who weren't that old.

Even more were moved on and repurposed.

They have to make way for newer ships, whether big, small or monster. The costs of compliance increases with age, and passengers avoid ships that have become tired & unreliable. Put in in the same context as your car. 

 

Covid wiped-out the secondary market, so there was nowhere to cash in surplus old ships other that the scrapyards of Alang & Aliaga.

The. Worst. Cruise. EVER.

So bad, it was hilarious. 

Rolling delays meant we arrived in Bali, not at 9 am, but at 7.30 pm. In pouring rain. And they still insisted to conduct sightSEEING tours of the Balinese countryside in pitch darkness.
