FWIW, you cannot used the stock owner obc for Daily service fees, grats certs, cruise next certs and a bunch of other stuff... NCL makes it not very attractive to own stock imho. We just got a list from the Haven concierge on what we cannot use the stockholder obc for....and it's pretty discouraging. Just fyi

NCLH is $19 and change today, call it about $2K for a hundred shares.  If you take just one week cruise per year for the $100 credit, that’s essentially a 5% annual “dividend” which isn’t taxable, effectively increasing your net. Not to mention the “yield” increases on longer cruises for the $250 credit, or if you use it more than once per year. If you’re Haven, $2k should be well within your budget (I hope!) and a nice perk that you can always sell later, or just hold on to it for the potential future growth and the ongoing “dividend” OBC.

Quite easy to blow a hundred bucks on something at the shops or like sushi in a restaurant, etc

I completely agree.  I’m way under water on the stock (bought it pre-pandemic), but I’ve taken 13 cruises since we bought it, including two transatlantics.  Total OBC is $1600 so far.

Can it be used toward bar/drink purchases? Wondering if it would be worth getting fir my upcoming trip.

Yes.  It can’t be used in the casino or for the daily service charge, but can be used for most other things.  Food, drinks, excursions, spa, shops, etc.

Are they strict on holding the stock until the day of embarkation? I usually do short term/day trading so don't know if I have to keep those locked after I submitted the form.

No but the FAQ clearly says:

"The Shareholder must own Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. (NCLH) stock at the time of sailing." It doesn't say you have to be owning it the whole time. People do book cruises years in advance. I should note the form you sign and submit doesn't say anything about this or even that you are agreeing to the terms and conditions.

Then again, it also says singles paying 200% are entitled to the full OBC but I've always received the full amount paying less. I guess they can do whatever they want. I email a photo of the form and a screenshot of a relatively recent statement. I doubt they care since they are very liberal in granting this. I've gotten it for casino cruises that were heavily discounted. Others have gotten it even on comped cruises. Other lines like Royal and Carnival do not allow this.

So far I've taken the OBC maybe a dozen times only to give back some of it when the stock goes down so there's some risk. Fortunately I didn't own it pre-pandemic.

Worth a try

Ours was turned around in about a week.

Since the 100 shares holding is jointly--NCL split the credit between us (husband/wife) for the cabin, $125/125 as its a longer sailing instead of just putting the $250 on the cabin. Same things for us yet they were attentive to the legalities I guess.

I've had it split and not split and can't figure out their reasoning. I'm the only stockholder and I was Guest 1 for all three cruises

Cruise 1 with friend - I got the full $100

Cruise 2 with mom - I got the full $100

Cruise 3 with mom - we each got $50

I've also received it for my solo cruises and I did not pay 200%

The shortest time frame I sent it in was 4 days prior to my cruise. I brought my paperwork with me and checked in at Guest Services on day 3. He came back and told me it was already credited to my account. Sure enough, it was on my onboard account. I had checked when I left the cabin, so Miami was probably adding it while I was in line.
