Clarion Havnekontoret in Bergen to Viking dock

We are embarking on our British Isles cruise in Bergen in August.  We are staying at the Clarion Havnekontoret hotel the night before embarkation. We picked this hotel because we had previously read that we could walk to the ship from the hotel.  Can someone tell me which direction we would go when we come out the front door of the hotel and about how long of a walk it will be?  Thanks!

To the right, towards and past the Bergenhus Fortress. It isn't a far walk, maybe 15 minutes with luggage, but once at the port it gets fairly industrial. Careful of traffic.

There appears to be one cruise terminal in Bergen. It's on Google Maps as "Cruise Terminal Bergen". Cruise Mapper shows only one port. Google Maps says the terminal is 650 meters from Clarion Havnekontoret. You turn right and the street goes to the port.

Would it be better/safer to take a taxi or is it okay to walk if we are careful?

Don't sweat it now. See what it looks like, and how you feel, when the day comes. The hotel staff can advise you, and you can look at the street. Google Maps shows sidewalks and crosswalks so it should be walkable.

Area is mostly flat, with well marked cross walks.  We did the walk from Radisson blu ( just a block or so farther than your hotel) in February with luggage.  About a 10-15 minute walk.  As I said, flat.  Sidewalk or open pavement, no cars

Probably same distance as between connecting flights( international to Shengan) Frankfurt or other major airport.   If you can normally do that trek, you can do the walk to ship in Bergen.   Taxis were readily available, and we saw many people at Radisson who were taking them to same ship.

it’s mostly a matter of if you think you can walk … it’s not a strenuous walk, just more than one block.

We have stayed here twice.  Exit the hotel, turn right at door and make another right.  Follow the road, you really can’t miss the dock.  It’s probably 1/2-1 mile to the dock.

We took an Uber in Jan as there was about a foot of snow on the ground.

In you other post, you were reluctant to have to handle your luggage yourself at the airport (no trams / buses was your comment). While the walk from your hotel is not long and reasonable flat, there are a few narrow sidewalks. You will have to cross the road and walk by an area where many oil tugs dock - the pavement can be a bit rough. It's a 2 minute taxi ride if handling luggage is a concern. 🍺🥌

Turn right walk to the street by the water, turn right, keep to your left near the docked ships and walk straight. Impossible to get lost.

You can use Google maps to find the answer to that questions.

To the person who asked "Would it be better/safer to take a taxi or is it okay to walk if we are careful?" - Bergen is a very safe city.

We stayed at the Clarion last September and walked to the dock. We were both pulling luggage and it is about a 5 minute walk. There is no reason to hire a taxi. You literally walk out the door of the hotel, make a left and then a right at the street, once you cross the street you can see the ship.
