UK resident and non-UK resident on a same booking sharing a cabin.

Hi,

 

Tried calling P&O but wait times too long and after two weeks waiting for email reply I'm now more confused and overwhelmed so asking here. I'm a first time cruiser so sorry if it's a silly question.

 

I'm UK resident and I will be the one making the booking but I want to bring my mum who is not UK resident. Will there be any issues with this?

 

The email reply I got from P&O said that guest without UK address need to make booking through their international phone number but I do have UK address so do I still need to use the international phone number (I would prefer to book online) because my mum doesn't have UK address?

 

My mum and I both have EU passports in case that matters.

I would try a reliable on line Travel agent, they mainly have excellent agents who will ensure you get the right asewers. Sorry we cannot recommend one  but social media should be able to point you in the right direction.

Better still go to a high street travel agent and talk to someone face to face

Never used travel agents before, will I need to commit to buying something with them or can I just go ask questions and not book anything?

In my experience not committed to anything just asking questions and prices for holidays.

High street TAs deal primarily with land based holidaymakers, very few have real cruise experts, whereas the online cruise agents are specialists.

There is no commitment until you part with your money.

Update:

 

Decided to give P&O international reservations number a call, got through without any waiting. Talked to a lovely lady who confirmed that since I'm the one making the booking and I live in UK I can book through the website and as long as we have valid passports, visas and travel insurance there shouldn't be any issues for UK resident and non-UK resident on the same booking.

You don't actually need to be a UK resident to book a cruise through P&O UK website. That is a myth.

- P&O's T&Cs don't list any nationality or residency requirements.

- P&O's UK website happily accepts non-UK adresses.

- My own experience. I had absolutely zero issues booking a cruise through the UK website and then going on said cruise, despite my partner and I being German residents and Finnish and French nationals respectively.

Google "Cruise travel agents" - that will pull up the one's cruisers, including myself, deal with.

Provided one passenger who we shall now call the lead passenger is a UK resident you are good to book with P&O. Use the lead passenger's UK address for both passengers.  P&O publish general information on the basis that passengers are UK passport holders. Visa information will vary for other countries but often the same as UK passport holder requirements. I have sailed with a passenger who held a Zimbabwean passport who had needed to get a visa to travel.  This was checked at Southampton.  On board reception retained the passport and issued a passport receipt which was exchangeable for obtaining the passport back after we left the final port.  I think this is done because when they call in at a port, officials board and may want to look at the rarer passports more closely. P&O can refer you to a specialist agency for complex visa queries.
