A Sixth? Posted May 10, 2006 #26 Share Posted May 10, 2006 In eight cruises we've missed only one port, and that was a stop at the Isle of Youth Cuba because the Cruise company was having a fight with the Cuban Authority about tendering something or another. (We had stopped at Havana, but they apparently didn't want the cruise company tenders shuttling us , they wanted to use their boats at the next stop)

chasetf Posted May 11, 2006 #28 Share Posted May 11, 2006 Hello All - we are booked onthe 6/3 CB and all but 1 stop on this cruise requires the use of tenders. Just wondering how often are port stops cancelled due to rough weather? This is only my 2nd cruise and am curious as to what others experience has been. If seas are too rough to tender, what does the boat do? Does it anchor or does it try and get to calmer water? Also, any extra activities ever added like pool activities for unexpected days on the boat? How many times has this happened to you? Just wondering Lisa Ports are cancelled for reasons other than weather. Weather can also cancel non-tender (dock) ports. Twice we have been rescheduled due to political unrest in the port countries. We sailed on to the next port (sea day) in one case, in the other we diverted to Nassau When it was due to weather (three times in all the times below) one we just sailed on to the next port (missed Boston - non tender). One time (Oches Rios - non tender) we tried for Montego Bay but could not get in to it either so we sailed on to the next port (sea day). The last (Cook Islands - tender) they knew a tropical storm was in the area so we sailed in the opposite direction to another port.
Nliedel Posted May 11, 2006 #29 Share Posted May 11, 2006 In the summer Grand Cayman can be a crap shoot. Don't count on it. Actually I never count on any port and then I'm never sad :)
