I really don't want to carry cash for tipping.:mad: How does the tipping thing work? can you charge it to your stateroom? When?:rolleyes: How? Is there a form to fill out? H:eek: ow much do you usually tip? We're going on RCL in one week!:D

you really should carry some tipping cash --for the porters who take your luggage at the pier- for the room service personnel -- its just not realistic for you to be going to the front desk to put a tip on your account everytime you get room service

 

having never been rcl i cant answer as to how tipping is done there--would suggest you go to the ncl board or check the cruiseline web site

You can add the tips for the room steward, waiter, assistant water and maitre'd added to your sea pass account. RCL add a 15% tip on each time you charge drinks to your Sea Pass. However, I agree with the previous poster that you will need some cash for incidental tips porters, room service, etc.

Just to add on to the previous poster ... if you charge your tips to your seapass, you will get vouchers and envelopes to pass out on the last night of the cruise (or final morning). You can write a note on the voucher, or add some additional cash if there is someone you want to tip extra.

 

You definitely will need some cash - not only for tipping room service and porters at the pier, but also for taxis and small purchases at the different ports. I think all of the RCCI ships have small safes in the staterooms, so you can just lock up whatever cash you aren't using.

Tips for your room steward, and waiters can be added to your seapass. Usually there is a form delivered to your cabin for you to sign and return if that is the way you want your tips handled. Tips for your bar drinks are automatically added to your bill for the drinks. Tips for other onboard services like spa treatments can be either in cash or added to your bill, it's your choice. Tips for room service, and porters are cash and are paid as service is given so one dollar bills come in handy on the days you board and debark and in your cabin.

 

You can get cash from the casino cashier if you need some by just charging it to your seapass.

Yep, agree with the others here. You will need at least a little cash, probably less than $100.00 if you're planning on doing everything else with a credit card.

Also, some small vendors ashore don't take credit cards. And a lot of the larger ones that do, charge an upcharge for using credit cards.

 

We usually take $100 in $2 bills. Those are specifically for tips. But we also take other cash for some purchases. We've also always put the ship tips on our accounts, and tipped extra to our cabin steward and waiters.
