mom kaplan Posted June 29, 2006 #1 Share Posted June 29, 2006 I realize this is a really basic, and probably foolish question, but it's been so long since I've cruised that I have to ask. Should we bring our own beach towels with us on the trip or does rccl provide them? What about when you leave the ship and go to the beaches in port? I apologize if this has been addressed in previous threads (I know lots of people have pet peeves about repetitive questions/threads). I went back quite a ways and didn't see any. Thank you in advance for your answers
WeirdEyes Posted June 29, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 29, 2006 Don't pack your own beach towels. RCL provides them to all passengers to take into port and to the pool. Just make sure you don't lose it because they'll charge you $20-$25. Have a great cruise!
cb at sea Posted June 30, 2006 #3 Share Posted June 30, 2006 If you need or want more than 1 towel per person, they are available at the pool. You can exchange wet or dirty towels for clean ones there, too. They will ask your room # when getting extras, so they know if you have returned them! AFT_LOVER Posted June 30, 2006 #4 Share Posted June 30, 2006 since the Solarium has them in what resembles a bookcase. Help yourself to them. Wrap 1 or 2 around your hair & body to walk out.
KarinaGW Posted June 30, 2006 #5 Share Posted June 30, 2006 Except that the RCCL beach towels are not really great towels. Onboard they're "okay", but I'm bringing my own this time for the excursions.
Cape Cruiser 2007 Posted June 30, 2006 #6 Share Posted June 30, 2006 Thats what Im thinking- I like nice thick towels so I will bring my own for excursions.
mom kaplan Posted June 30, 2006 Author #7 Share Posted June 30, 2006 Thank you all for your input. I'll let the family decide which is more impt. to them...extra clothes or fluffy beach towels. The suitcase can only hold so much. I can guess what their answer will be.
PSCruiser Posted June 30, 2006 #8 Share Posted June 30, 2006 Another problem - when you are on the beach or on an excursion, half of the towels around will be RC towels, so its tough to know your own. That's why we like our own distinctive beach towels. For around the pool - at some point early in a cruise it is usually possible to pick up an extra towel (at an "unguarded" towel shelf). Do this when the opportunity arises, so that you will always have an extra dry towel when needed, and in the unlikely event that you lose a towel, no problem. PS: I think that the charging for lost towels is a myth anyway - anyone out there actually have it happen?
