mom kaplan Posted July 10, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 10, 2006 We'll be on the AOS in a couple of weeks :) and I was wondering if anyone can tell me if I need to pack a sweater or sweatshirt to wear early in the morning or later at night when I walk around the decks. I'm trying to minimize my clothing/packing. I assume I'll need a light sweater for the Dining Room/theater/ice rink etc.. I tend to chill long before the rest of my family. Thanks! jules815 Posted July 10, 2006 #2 Share Posted July 10, 2006 Hi Mom, I packed a light jacket last month while we were on Mariner and never wore it once. The dining room was comfortable to me, and I don't even remember feeling chilly during the ice show. Pack something light just to be on the safe side though - you never know. mom kaplan Posted July 10, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted July 10, 2006 Sorry this question was redundant...there wasn't a thread with this topic when I wrote it. Now there's one addressing the same question. Thanks for the response jules815 and not blasting me for the repetition.:p
rubrrick Posted July 11, 2006 #4 Share Posted July 11, 2006 My DW and I were on the Jewel this past April/May for a transatlantic and Baltic's cruise. The ship was so warm that I wore short sleeve shirts most of the nights. Rick
Caroleb Posted July 11, 2006 #5 Share Posted July 11, 2006 Unlike the previous posters, I have always been chilly in the evenings (while inside, that is). I am always cold, however, so maybe I am not a good judge on temperature issues. I pack long sleeve tops and sweaters to wear every evening. Now, I do mean inside the ship; dining room, show lounge, etc. Outside on deck, the temperature is comfortable. My motto is to be prepared, so be sure to pack something that will work with most of your outfits.
SnorkelBill Posted July 11, 2006 #6 Share Posted July 11, 2006 My wife is also chilly in the evenings, especially in the dining room. She always brings a wrap or light sleeve with her to keep warm. SB
toriwc Posted July 11, 2006 #7 Share Posted July 11, 2006 On past cruises, I have always been very cold in the evenings. While packing, I was telling my DH (this was his first cruise), why I was packing 3 lightweight sweaters to take. Well, aboard AOS two weeks ago, I never once needed my sweater. In fact, we were quite warm most of the time, and had an AC guy come in to check our room. Not sure if there is something about AOS or if my temp was just off. Hope this helps! IBookHePays Posted July 11, 2006 #8 Share Posted July 11, 2006 I packed a light sweater and never needed it. Most ships will sell "pashmina" type shawls for $10 each in every color you could want.
mom kaplan Posted July 12, 2006 Author #9 Share Posted July 12, 2006 Thanks a million for everyone's input. I'll probably pack light sweaters and if I don't need them it's no big deal. It's good to know about the shawls for sale though.
Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted July 12, 2006 #10 Share Posted July 12, 2006 I have needed a sweater or light wrap on every Royal Caribbean ship I have sailed, but on Freedom of the Seas I never needed to use the sweater sets I packed. For some reason that ship seemed much warmer to me. I still think it is a good idea to have some kind of wrap or sweater just in case.
happysinglemom Posted July 12, 2006 #11 Share Posted July 12, 2006 ...and was never chilly a single time. And I am one of those that is ALWAYS cold. I was amazed. After reading the threads here, I had expected to freeze in the dining room, but I never once needed my wrap, or a jacket.
