Local Guides in Mediterranean ports

I am sailing on Galaxy 8/12 Eastern Med and would like to do private guides in the ports. Any recommendations on whom I might contact in advance in Rhodes, Santorini, Myknos, Ephesus, Istanbul, Naples, Athens?

I am trying to get a group together for Naples to see Pompeii and Mamalfi coast. I have quotes from 6 tour operators all taken from recommendations on the Europe board. I have yet to book it because we need a small group. It would be 500E for 4-6 people. please let me know if you are interested. we are 2 50 somethings from California. I just got my cruise documents--have u received yours yet? We are doing 1 day precruise in Rome. Hope to see u on board. Judy

We too had Paul in Athens and he is a wonderful man! We used him for an evening tour and then to go to the airport the next day. Great airconditioned van and he was right on time!

We are three, two young seniors from NY traveling with a teen age grand daughter on the Galaxy 8/14. We are verymuch interested in touring Pompei and the Amalfi coast.

We used sammy's travel to set up both Istanbul and Ephesus tours.

 

For our two days in Istanbul Sammy's guide was Omer, who by the way also has his own guide company http://www.obatours.com. We were completely satisfied with both Sammy's arrangements (timely, clean vehicle with AC, and efficient) and Omer, who speaks great English and has a funny sense of humor.

 

In Ephesus Sammy's set us up with Yalchin (sp?) as a guide, and he was also very good.

 

Can't say enough about Sammy's Travel.

 

The rests of the ports we did everything on our own, and never used a ship's tour. We were MUCH happier for it, and was able to cover MUCH more ground and travel at our own pace and see the sights WE wanted to see, since we had six folks in our tour, rather than a 40 pax being hauled around in a bus. No wasting of MY time while wating for the herd or the late and lost.
