madhouseinc Posted January 1, 2007 #401 Share Posted January 1, 2007 Hi all. One bag packed (3 to go)...I realize that our cruise is an "all gratuities included" one but I feel odd about not tipping at the time of service. This is my first cruise so I am not sure about what to do. I plan on tipping for carrying bags, at the casino (I understand they are not included in the prefigured gratuities), and I plan on leaving additional for the room steward. Does that sound reasonable? Am I missing anyone? Are you leaving additional for the waiter? Thanks for your experienced advice! This is entirely up to you. You can give a "token" tip yourself, but if you feel the person went way out their way to make your week perfect you can certainly up it if you wish;) . Pennacruiser Posted January 1, 2007 Author #402 Share Posted January 1, 2007 Of course it sounds great! Wave food and good friends in front of an Italian and we are there! What time? I'm not sure what time we should schedule our lunch on Monday. I know that we'll have daily newsletters in our cabin and I'm sure that certain activities will be scheduled for the passengers during the day. I guess we could say 12:00? for lunch? Does that sound OK for everyone? Also, without reading thru everything that I have, where exactly is the lunch buffet. Is that by the pool? jgoula Posted January 1, 2007 #403 Share Posted January 1, 2007 Hi everyone: Monday at 12:00 noon is ok with me, hope to see everyone there. What time is everyone going to the pier on Sunday embarkation. I know we probably have to be out of the room by 11:00 am. James

James - Sue and I are taking the red eye from Vegas and we will be there before 9:30 AM - you will find us in a corner taking a nap most probably.:o Linda - you don't tip at the time of service, rather the last nite/day of the cruise directly to the person you wish to tip. jgoula Posted January 2, 2007 #405 Share Posted January 2, 2007 Hi everyone, Does someone have the names of all who have been on the message board? Can we put it on one message so we can copy and paste. James and Marie - Tucson, Arizona
jgoula Posted January 2, 2007 #406 Share Posted January 2, 2007 I just thought about the muster drill. When are they going to have the muster drill? On every cruise I have been on it is done before the ship leaves port. With the receptions starting at 5:00pm and the first dinner seating at 6:00pm that means the muster drill may be between 3:00pm and 5:00pm. Any thoughts, what a busy first evening. Hopefully they'll let us on board, but it not we'll just wait around. Since I'm new to all this, What is a muster drill? Add to the list: Claudia and her girfriend Marge from Maryland Frank & wife Joanne from Pennsylvania luv2cruise (name?) and her husband from Texas Kristin & her mom from Wisconsin ex-dba (names??) from Pennsylvania Anyone else coming that we missed???? jgoula Posted January 2, 2007 #409 Share Posted January 2, 2007 Muster drill is the safety drill, this is where they show you how to wear your floatation device and where you report in case of an emergency. All passengers must attend and it is usually done before we leave port. James

luv2cruiser Posted January 2, 2007 #414 Share Posted January 2, 2007 I know what to do with the luggage tags, but what about the other 4 QVC "cards" with space for name, address, telep # and cabin #? can these be used to insert into the luggage tags as well or what are they for? By the way, thanks for adding us to the "list" and our names are Kathy and Don.
crusguy Posted January 2, 2007 #415 Share Posted January 2, 2007 Have thought about that myself, I think we will be having quite a few people boarding between 3 and 5PM. A question for Henry? MSC usually holds the lifeboat drill early on the second day of the cruise, unlike most other cruise lines, because they usually depart around 7 PM on their regular Caribbean cruises

Hello Jeri My Mom and I will join you shortly after . Does the plane land at 9:30, or will you be at the port at 9:30?? We have to check out of our Hotel with enough time to get to port, and I've heard sometimes those shuttles aren't to reliable. Better to be at port waiting, than watching the ship leave without us!!!!!!!!!!! Who still has packing to do!!??? Kristin

But a suggestion - unless someone is staying at your house, put on them a relatives add. No need to broadcast that your home is empty. On the back of the card I also put my daughters name and cell phone number as well as our itinerary. (Same information inside of each bag also)

I would not get to the pier before noon though - and considering the ship does not sail until 7PM I think the regular check out time at the hotel would be fine.
