legalslave Posted August 23, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 23, 2006 Thinking of booking the Oosterdam for an Alaska cruise. Another couple who may go love Country/Western music and dancing. Can those of you who have sailed the "O" recall if there were any Country/Western bands? Diane
Rare Roz Posted August 23, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 23, 2006 Diane, I've never heard much in the way of country music on any HAL cruise, and there weren't any country/western bands. Sounds like friends would be happy on a themed cruise that featured country artists. Roz P.S. I know what I'm talking about...look where I live! :D
Krazy Kruizers Posted August 23, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 23, 2006 Don't remember any country/western music on an Alaskan cruise on any ship. But sometimes on some ships in the Caribbean there will be a country/western night where they play that type of music for a couple of hours. Rare Copper10-8 Posted August 23, 2006 #5 Share Posted August 23, 2006 There is usually a country & western night in the Crow's Nest hosted by the cruise activities staff. It involves line dancing and they lead/teach it. Whoever the band is in the Crow's Nest will play some country tunes. However, as has been said, there is no dedicated county & western band on board. kryos Posted August 23, 2006 #6 Share Posted August 23, 2006 I know HAL does some "Big Band" cruises. Maybe they do a "Country and Western" theme cruise as well. You should have your TA check that out for you. Might not be the specific sailing or ship you are booked on, but it might be worth checking out. You could always change your reservation if you find HAL is having a dedicated Country and Western cruise this year. Blue skies ... --rita
HALOnlyCruiser Posted August 23, 2006 #7 Share Posted August 23, 2006 On the Oosterdam in July there was a Country Night in Northern Lights starting about 10:30. It was all recorded, no band, but they taught dances. It was fun!
legalslave Posted August 24, 2006 Author #8 Share Posted August 24, 2006 Thanks everyone for your replies. The primary part of the cruise is cruising and Alaska. Neither of the other couple have been on a cruise or been to Alaska. I think they will be thrilled even if there isn't country music!
