Gatwick to central London/cost

For £14.00 the Gatwick Express runs every 15 minutes and takes 30 minutes to get to Victoria Station. http://www.gatwickexpress.co.uk/

25% off http://www.gatwickexpress.com/promo . Enter promo code 200006. There may also be 2 for 1 deals.

Southern runs a cheaper commuter line from Gatwick at about £8. A change at Clapham Junction with up and down stairs gets you to Waterloo Station. There is no dedicated luggage area and I would not recommend this during rush hour.

I can offer no help with cabs or limos.

You might want to look on http://www.londontown.com for their selection of Airport transfers. In addition to the Gatwick Express (non-stop train from LGW to Victoria Rail Station), National Express (bus) has service to Victoria Coach Station, sometimes for less. Using the train can sometimes be difficult if you have a lot of luggage, but is much cheaper than a limo or cab--if you are one or two people. Some transfer companies (http://www.hotelink.com) offer shared van service (like our SuperShuttle) for a good price, and they go directly to many Central London hotels. This eliminates the hassle and expense of getting to and from the Station to your hotel, but because of traffic, can take 1-2 hours.

The Tube isn't really an option to/from Gatwick, and once you've been on it, you'll see why it would be difficult to anywhere when you have luggage. Otherwise, the Underground is a tourist's best friend! Be sure to look into the many passes available, to bring down the cost--London is very expensive for us Yanks right now.

As a direct answer to your question, I am booked with Skyport Cars http://www.skyportcars.com for a pick up at LGW on 21 September to be taken to the Renaissance Chancery Court Hotel. The cost is 85 GBP which includes everything but gratuity. I checked a few sites and they were among the cheapest for private car with a driver waiting outside customs. The response was very prompt and professional. I have not used them as of yet so I cannot give a firm recommendation.
