Question - Hotwire in April shows these along with "laundry facilities" for $135. Is this also Intercontinental? And what are the additional resort fees for Intercontinental?

Thanks!

did you book Hotwire 4* for April 12, if so was it Inter.?

Thanks

Has anyone won successfully on Priceline for Dec. 30, 2011? Not sure what to bid with it being a holiday time. See a lot of people winning for about $115 at the Intercontinental, we have stayed at the Embassy, Caribe Hilton, and Marriott Stelaris before. Enjoyed them all. Any tips? Will be checking out better bidding for ideas as well. Thanks.

I have not booked hotel, yet, as I want to book air first and I'm waiting for prices to come down. We may change our travel dates based on air fare, so I don't want to commit to a hotel yet. We plan on arriving Apr 5 for an Apr 8 sail date. I will post my purchase info when we do it.

Let me start by saying I do not like leaving things to chance. I always want to know where I'm staying and how much I will be paying. I don't even like to book a GTY cabin. However, after reading all of these comments on CC, I decided I would give Priceline.com a shot for our pre-cruise stay in San Juan on 1/14. Well, I couldn't be happier! I got the Intercontinental San Juan Resort for $120!

Thank you to all who have posted previously and gave me the courage to try something new! :D

Congrats!!

I used to feel the same way as you. I finally used priceline for the first time for a precruise hotel in San Juan, and since then I use it for almost all my hotel bookings.

115 Mariott Stellaris 9/17/11 & 9/25/11. Knew it would be accepted first try from READING the thread. Didn't feel like hasseling for a few bucks so went with what I thought was cheapest and would be accepted first try. First time on priceline.Amazingly it wasn't rocket science.;)

I'm confused. I want to try to land Sheraton OSJ on Hotwire. I get it down to 2 offerings "near OSJ" and the one with 4* lists a casino and SPA in with the ammenities.

The one with 3 1/2* does not list a casino but has the rest of the icons that this hotel would have. For those that are experienced, would you think that the 4* is the Sheraton OSJ ?

You didn't give dates, so I can't duplicate your search. Based on the casino info you mentioned, I don't think that the 3 1/2* is the Sheraton OSJ as that hotel had a casino the last time I was there (check their website for current info).

I picked a date in January 2012, to see want info was provided. Of the 2 hotels listed for that date, the 4* says its on the beach while the 3 1/2* says its near the beach. Neither listed Spa icons. I have no guesses as to what the 3 1/2* is but I think the 4* is the Intercontential in Isla Verda (for the date I looked at).

Hope this helps. Nancy

Bid last night. I started with $110 for a Resort in San Juan for January 28, 2012, which wasn't accepted. I added Dorado region and increased the bid by $5. (I've been told there aren't any resorts in other regions. Don't know if that's accurate info or not.) My bid was accepted. Got the Intercontinential.

Thanks to everyone who posted previously so I'd have a idea where to start the bidding. Nancy

Thanks so much for trying ! My check-in/out dates are 9/23/11-9/25/11.

Sounds like you ended up with something a bit different with the January dates because neither of mine yesterday mentioned a beach !

I know many have been lucky on Priceline by clicking 3 1/2 * and NOT resort to get Sheraton OSJ, but I'm just not that much of a gambler. Through Expedia I think I can get same hotel for $119 non-refundable. I'll keep playing around, any more help would be welcome !

Jeanne, before you bid, try calling the hotel directly to see if they even have any rooms available. Last year, I keep bidding and bidding for over a month without success. For some reason, I finally called the Sheraton and found out that they were completely booked. No amount of bidding was gonna help me! Just an FYI, I think there is another Sheraton now out by the Convention Center and the Pan Am pier. Good Luck. Keep us posted on your progress/success. Nancy

Just booked the Sheraton Old San Juan for $115/night. April 26,27,28 2012. Chose 3 1/2 stars and didn't check resort block. Also took $5/night insurance. Hope this helps. Got an immediate response.

Is there a way to make sure you get a hotel near the port? I don't want to be far away even if it is a great hotel

What do you mean "near the port"? And which port? - there are two cruise ports in San Juan.

Does "near" include a 5-20 minute taxi ride away or do you want to be able to walk to the port in Old San Juan?

Priceline will only give you a hotel somewhere in SJ if that is the bidding zone you select. That is the only location you can be sure of when using Priceline, being somewhere in SJ. But if you only want the hotel (Sheraton Old SJ) from which you can easily walk to the OSJ port, then do not use Priceline. You could easily get a hotel near the main airport, or in the Condado area. In my opinion, the extra cost of a taxi to the port is more than offset by the reduced room rate you get on PL.

We have to go through hotwire, as there will be 4 of us in a room. Priceline only has quotes for 2 people.

I have a question with hotwire though.

I have a hotel, San Juan PR, Jan 21, for $130 a night. It does not allow me to do 'zone' area. So I don't know exactly where this might be. I am assuming the Old San Juan area.

It is giving me ameneties of resort, on the beach, casino, pool, restaurant, at least 1 pool, business centre, laundry facilities and high speed.

Any idea on what hotel anyone would think this one would be ?? Oh and its a 4-star hotel too.

Thanks, this is our first time 'bidding' on a hotel !

Ok so I am guessing that this is Intercontinental, which is in Carolina. How close is that to the pier??

Would we be better off booking a 3 1/2 star ??

Sounds like the Intercontinental. To be certain post your question on the Puerto Rico board on http://www.betterbidding.com and you will get the exact answer.

Carnival uses the pier in OSJ across from the Sheraton. The others cruiselines go from the Pan American pier about a $20 taxi fare.... Certainly, for one night, there are advantages to OSJ because there is lots to do during the day and at night and everything is accessible. The Intercontinental is limited to what you can do within walking distance.

I bid today on Priceline for 2/3/12, one night, two rooms. I bid for San Juan, Zone 8, resort for $125. I won the Conrad San Juan Condado Plaza, first try.

I was hoping for the Marriott Stellaris and hoping NOT to get the Intercontinental. I was concerned about the bad reviews on TripAdvisor that stated that Priceline customers were sometimes forced to go to the Hampton Inn when they over-booked the hotel.

I am pretty happy about this hotel. We will at least be in Condado. I am very familiar with the area.

Trying to remember since it was earlier this summer (maybe late june early july). Was not even on the site for 10 min. Chose resort $115. thats it. I didn't care which one we got.
