ROWSE Posted September 24, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 24, 2006 We are on CB Sept. 30 and booked a private shore excursion with Aqua Mania Adventures after reading about them on this site. We are doing Sand Dollar half day snorkel. We need to get to the Pelican Marina located at the Pelican Resort. Would we take a cab, and anyone know how much this will be? Also, I read somewhere about a water taxi. Would that take us there? Any information would be helpful. Did anyone do this and be willing to share their experience? Thank you! gonna go cruising Posted September 24, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 24, 2006 Sorry, I have not done either of those. You may want to post it as well on the St. Maarten Port of Call board. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=93 They are very helpful there. Hope you get an answer fast as you are almost gone! Have a great time!

Cruisin Kay D Posted September 25, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 25, 2006 ROWSE asked about getting to a private shore excursion with Aqua Mania Adventures at the Pelican Marina located at the Pelican Resort, using a cab or water taxi: RESPONSE: Been to St. Maarten many times!!! Must use cab to go to Pelican Resort/Marina, which is a 20 minute to half-hour ride toward the airport. At the pretty cruise terminal, there is a taxi area & easy to get one..... Water taxi only takea you from cruise ship terminal/dock to downtown shopping area. Unless there has been a major change in past year, you cannot use a water taxi to get to Pelican. Google for a map of St. Maarten, so you can see where you're going. IMPORTANT: Allow PLENTY OF TIME AFTER the excursion to get back to ship. Traffic going up over Cole's Bay Hill & into downtown can get horrible on days when there are several cruise ships docked -- and that's most days of the week. Cabs are easy to find at St. Maarten -- when cruise ships are in port, the drivers know there are lots of people to transport!!!

ROWSE Posted September 25, 2006 Author #7 Share Posted September 25, 2006 Thank you Cruisin Kay D your information was helpful. We will allow plenty of time to get back to the ship. When on a private excursion, I am a little more anxious and try to get back very early.
