Cruisechik Posted September 29, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2006 Anyone have Carnival's recipe for a chocolate martini? It was a "different" chocolate martini than I've had before. It definitely had gin in it (not vodka) and no creme de cocoa. The chocolate liquer was separated and at the bottom, gin at the top. It was very good. I'm not sure what else may have been in it. Vermouth, maybe?
caribbean dreams Posted September 29, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 29, 2006 I think it may depend on the Bartender, the Chocolatini that we always order has white rum, baileys & kahlua, sometimes they substatute the run for vanilla vodka. we have also had it on another ship with raspberry liquor, white chocolate liquor & vodka, he then filled the shaker with whipped cream shook it up and pured it in the glass, it was the best chocolate raspberry martini i had ever had. I'm sure other people will have more recipes from the Carnival bars also.
GoinCruisin Posted September 29, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 29, 2006 I agree... they all seem to make them differently! Never had one with gin though... blech! I do specify vodka, regardless...
momofzeke Posted September 29, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 29, 2006 The one I had on the Miracle was similar to the one you're describing, cruisechik, with the dark chocolate separated and at the bottom of the glass. It wasn't made with gin, though. I hate gin, so I'm glad it wasn't! I don't know what was in it, but it was very tasty. :)
MuffyKismet Posted September 29, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 29, 2006 you might try looking on line for chocolate martini recipes, you can then maybe figure out what yours had in it and try it at home! Good luck, I know that is frustrating when you have a great drink and can't remember how is is made!
cruisin*tigger Posted September 29, 2006 #6 Share Posted September 29, 2006 My favorite - drizzle chocolate syrup artistically in the glass :D , then in martini shaker mix ice, white chocolate and chocolate Godiva liqueurs, vanilla vodka and a splash of 1/2 and 1/2. Shake until nice and foamy, pour in glass and sprinkle with coco powder.
Cruisechik Posted September 29, 2006 Author #7 Share Posted September 29, 2006 The martini I had was on the Celebration at the Trolley Bar. I've tried searching for recipes but they all have vodka instead of gin. Maybe I'll give the vodka a try, as well as the yummy recipes you all shared. Thank you. Just subsitute the same amount of gin for the vodka but the secret is the Godiva! Have one for me!:D
deborahjo Posted September 29, 2006 #9 Share Posted September 29, 2006 I do not think I would like it with gin. What a strange taste that must have been.
STiVo Posted September 29, 2006 #10 Share Posted September 29, 2006 When they set up a martini bar outside the casino on the Glory earlier this month, I happened to take a picture of the martini list. It tells you what is in each drink (but not how much). Chocolate is on there, as well as others... HurricaneSally Posted September 30, 2006 #11 Share Posted September 30, 2006 I don't believe you'll ever find a chocolate martini made with gin. Cruisechik, you must be mistaken. Gin is just yuck and only really goes with tonic.

Gin is just yuck and only really goes with tonic. No, no mistake, it was definitely made with gin. It was listed as an ingredient on the table drink menu (a different menu than posted above); not only that, I know what gin tastes like. I just don't know the liquor proportions of this particular chocolate martini. The chocolate martini was quite good actually. Again, thanks everyone for your input. Cruisechik Posted October 7, 2006 Author #17 Share Posted October 7, 2006 Is Godiva chocolate liquer interchangeable with creme de cacao?
Cruisechik Posted October 7, 2006 Author #18 Share Posted October 7, 2006 Continuation of last post: My original post was wrong the chocolate martini did have creme de cacao. I thought that was a creamy liquer, akin to Bailey's, but apparently not, since my drink was clear on the top and dark on the bottom. If I use Godiva chocolate liquer is that the same as creme de cacao or something different? Thanks.
peachiepie99 Posted October 7, 2006 #19 Share Posted October 7, 2006 I also know for a fact that I have had a chocolate martini made with gin, on my first cruise on the Ecstasy last year. I nearly spit it out. Chocolate martini + gin do not go together! I didn't read the drink menu closely enough. It wasn't the one that is pictured up above-it was the card stock folded one that has like a navy cover...
