I still have a bit of that ships movement going on today....seems like the earth is moving a bit. Also wondering why dinner is not being prepared at my home--I really got used that food. I thought they did a good job with taste and presentation. I only ate dinner in the dining. Lunch once. Breakfast always room service. I don't want to cook. I need room service. I woulld like a cabin attendant for my home!!!

The Purser, tall with ice blue eyes.................. tell him Brenda the cop says HI & see him 6/18.

Jewel is one wonderful ship with all her glass. We are usually in 9256 on her with the best steward (Michael).

did you have any problems with privacy from the people above your balcony?

Oh lucky you....we get on when you get off this coming Tuesday-Halloween. We booked this over a year ago and cannot believe it is almost here....I can't wait.

Have a wonderful time, how could you not. I would love to "go north" on the Jewel or any ship for that matter, will have to try it. Looking forward to your review.

Linda, way too funny. I agree, why do we have to give up all the amenities of a cruise? Just bring a few of them home for awhile until we can adjust to the old life again.

Hi all!! And hi to those of you that I know well, and those that I am cruising with in July.

I really love this ship!!! I have to first comment on dinner. Tonight was formal night. There were tuxes, but few (I have main seating). The men were mostly in jacket and ties, and very few "non-ties", but some, no jackets. Most all the ladies were dresses lovely, but not too much to the "nines". I liked seeing a nice mix and everyone seemed comfortable with what they were wearing, and what anyone else was wearing. Ok the appetizers were:

orange carpaccio (had it on the Explorer...great)

shrimp cocktail (we all had...it was great)

escargots

lobster bisque

oxtail broth

golden pear soup (yum)

Entrees:

truffled Wild Mushroom Linguini Alfredo

Golden Sea Bass

Roaster Duck

Eggplant Mozzarella Tower (daughter said it was awesome)

and the best piece of meat I swear I have ever had (hubby agrees)...

Filet of Beef with green peppercorn sauce. OMG it was to die for!!!

As much as I would like to continue..I have things to do!!! lol I am glad to be sharing with all of you. MUch more later. But to sum up..I love the ship and staff and most of all...I LOVE CRUISING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trixie ~~~ We're almost never naked on the balcony so it hasn't been a problem with privacy.;)

I think security is going to have to drag me off this ship on Tuesday...I AM NOT LEAVING!!!!!!!!

I should mention that Love and Marriage is tomorrow night and the Quest so there will be lots to tell (and not tell!!) and Mon nite is a big Halloween party.

Hello and thank you so much for writing about your wonderful cruise on the Jewel. My husband and I will be sailing in December! I was wondering if you are using CyberCabin with the dial up or the ship's computers? We are debating about bringing a laptop, but have never tried CyberCabin and would love to know how reliable is it. Thanks for any info on the internet situation.

Have a wonderful cruise!!

Thanks for all the posts from the ship. We leave for Boston on Monday to board Jewel on Tuesday. We've sailed on her before and can't wait to get back. Your live updates have us even more excited.

By the way, for the person who posted that she was in cabin 9578, how was the balcony? We were originally booked into that cabin but were lucky enough to get a Diamond Plus upgrade to a JS. Just curious about what we gave up.

Wishing those aboard Jewel smooth sailing and a really great trip.

Denise.........I met Kathy, Ronnie, Judi, etc. in July on the Explorer, and am still hoping to meet back up with them, and meet you in July 2007.

John and I were on Jewel last December, and had the captain's daughter and her husband as our dinner companions. We (along with my mom)were on Constellation last June in the Baltic, and Grete(Captain Thor Thorlson's daughter) and her husband, Magnus, came to spend the day with us in Helsingborg, Sweden. We have emailed them and haven't had any response..........really concerned about their welfare. Please, if you get the chance, ask Captain Thor if they are ok. I know she was planning on going back to college, and he was thinking about a new job. They were in the process of moving soon, too, so we don't know what happened to them. We had kept in contact with them from December through June. If she or Magnus have a new email address, please see if Capatin Thor will share it with you, and you can give it to me.Oh, and of course, tell Captain we said,"hello!" Thanks so much!

Continue having a wonderful cruise!!!!!! We loved the Jewel!!!!!!!! It's such a classy ship!!!!!

Hello dzboss1

So glad you are enjoying your cruise -

We got off Thursday as you got on - We had one of the most relaxing 5 days ever! Loved our balcony in 9092, room was a little small but fine for two.

I miss it all - maybe except for the casino, it just wanted money - although my DH did ok - wouldn't even feed me a bit to play....

I want escargot !!!!

If you get a chance go to Chops - I had the best filet ever!!! DH had the T-bone and loved it. Its amazing to have so many people wait on you.

Also don't forget to go to the sauna in the spa!! so relaxing...

I am writing this on Word in my room as we are a few hours out of Bermuda. The weather report looks great so we are anxious to get off and explore (ok, anxious to shop...there I said it!!! Lol)

We were doing very well in the casino, but last night we ended up giving some back (Indian givers!!!). But there are jackpots being given away all the time. One of my Roll Call friends won $1500 the first night.

We finally got to the Solarium last night for the crepes. So good!!

Last night at 11 was the chocolate buffet. We loaded up plates of chocolate cakes and strawberries and mini sandwiches and were gaining weight and getting a sugar high just carrying them to our rooms!!

Right after we stuffed our faces, we went to the Vortex for 70s night. 2 hours later, I could barely walk!!! I danced every dance they played (the music was awesome!!!), whether my hubby was with me on the floor or not (dancing by myself does not phase me in the least. I loveeee to dance!!) The people were so much fun and the dance floor was always full. There is no one under 18 allowed (they are not too many kids on board anyway). The “Village People” showed to perform and we had a ball dancing the YMCA with them. I got filmed a lot, but will have to wait till I see it on the TV to see if I didn’t end up on the cutting room floor.

I really think all the rooms and bars on this ship are really beautiful and makes it fun just to sit in them!! I love that I can enjoy the coffee here because coffee is essential to getting through these jammed packed days!!

I wanted to add also that the seas really never calmed down, but gee I wasn’t feeling a thing!! Nothing! This ship is gooooood.

Thank you so much for your posts. I'm getting excited just by reading your updates:) It sounds like a wonderful ship and crew, the food you describe sounds delicious and can't wait to sample the chocolate buffet. I'm sure all the calories are taken out for those that cruise;) Thanks again for posting and enjoy Bermuda. We are looking forward to Tuesday when we board the Jewel.

5 days is too short!! I swear they are going to have to drag me kicking and screaming off this ship!!!

We took the Ferry to Hamilton this morning. It was $8 round trip. The big Ferry in front of the ship takes 20 minutes to get to Hamilton (we took that there)...the ferry a few minutes walking distance to the right takes 10 (we took that back). It was a wonderful ride in either. It is windy, but warm when the sun is out. We shopped and spent about 2 hours strolling around (ya, and buying stuff...c'mon it's shops in Bermuda!!!) We had lunch at the Pickled Onion, which we had lunch at in 2000. It was still delicious and full of locals and ship people. It is on that main street...Front St. My daughter had a "wahoo" burger (fish...who knew) that she loved. Hubby and I had incredible burgers. Son had pizza (not great) but great fries. Worth having lunch there for sure!!

I am having my coffee (ahhhhh) and after posting will take more pictures. I have over 200 so far. It will take a few days when I get back to sort through and find ones you all will want to see.

Tonight we are having dinner at Chops. Can't wait. We are missing Italian night, which is dissapointing!!! The menu in the dining room is:

Appetizers:

caprese salad

antipasti

shrimp cocktail

scallop risotto

garlic soup (omg my secong favorite appetizer after the onion tart)

strawberry bisque

entrees:

rigatoni Pasta

Tiger Shrimp

Chicken Marsala

Veggie Chili

Lamb Shank

I wanted to again comment on how well this ship handles the water. If you didn't look at the seas, you really weren't aware of much movement on the ship. I would sail this ship again in a heartbeat!!

I am glad I can share this with all of you. I wish I could write more, but its hard to sit still. I am off to take the pictures. More later.

Carol ~~~ You are in for a treat!!

Kathy and Ronnie ~~ Hi!!!!!

Denice,

Glad that you enjoy the Jewel! Told you that she is lovely! Remember I spent 24 days on her this year :p, the Radiance Class is my favourite ship.

How are the activities on the ship? Did you do everything that were listed on the Compass on Sea Day?

Can I have 2 order of Warm Chocolate Cake? :p

Jen ~~~ Hey kiddo!!! I do check off on my Compass the things I want to do...though sometimes never get there to do them. Port days as you know are quieter, but I keep going regardless. Just went around and took another 30 or so pictures...I think I have covered every spot now...lol. Having afternoon cup of coffee #2 (with the oatmeal raisin cookies that I love so much) before I re-shower for Chops at 6. (That ferry and the wind did a number on my hair... will need to start over again). Tonight at 10:15 is the Love and Marriage show. I always love that show!!

Ok I have to run. Love cruising!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DeeDee ~~~ I cannot get even my emails to open!! I do miss our chats!!

Stiches ~~~ The oatmeal raisin cookies are everywhere (like the Windjammer) and are incredible!

But lets talk more food. We just left Chops. I don't know why the staff thought we were royalty...because that is how we were treated! The service was amazing. The food was really to die from, and I decided I can't be that mean and tell you the menu. You will all have puddles of drool if I do. Marko was our waiter, and the Maitre'd there, had been one in the dining room on the Explorer when we were on it. They were all so attentive and wonderful in there.

We are about to go into the show to see a comedian/singer, then the Love and Marriage show follows. I haven't even had a chance to read the Compass for tomorrow, but I am dying to!!!!
