islandgram Posted July 18, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 18, 2004 We are sailing on the Victory in March and we are docked in San Juan from 5 p.m. til Midnight. Any suggestions on what to do? We love the sea days and time on the ship, so we wouldn't mind just staying on board. However, we are going to be in a place we may never be again and wouldn't want to miss anything!! We are not real party folks, a nice quiet drink is great, though!! Thanks for any suggestions.
pholter Posted July 18, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 18, 2004 We were there on the same ship 2 years ago- you'll love it! Does it still stop in San Juan on Monday or Tuesday? We found out then that alot of the restaurants and smaller shops are closed after about 6pm. There is still plenty to see an do though, so no worries. There is also a pretty great disco walking distance from the ship in OTSJ, too. The crew will tell you about it if you ask- I think it's called something like Lazer's, but not positive. Hotel Casinos are right across the street from the pier, too....
gtaylor Posted July 19, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 19, 2004 We were on the Victory this past March. We actually arrived San Juan early, and we were off the ship by 4:00. We walked along the waterfront and the walls up to the San Juan Gate, then wandered through Old San Juan shopping and stopping for a couple of beers before walking back to the ship in time for dinner aboard. We had hoped to be able to walk out to El Moro, but it was getting dark and I believe that El Moro closed at 5:00. Many of the people on board went back ashore after dinner for some nightlife, but we passed. Definitely worth getting off for a walkabout!

islandgram Posted July 20, 2004 Author #5 Share Posted July 20, 2004 Thanks !! We are sure looking forward to this vacation. Usually we have some warm, nice weather here in Maine by now, but this summer is cold, rain, fog ...yuck!! Not sure I can wait for March for some sun!!!
