Faith77 Posted January 13, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2007 I sailed on the Dawn Princess for 11 nights out of SF over the holidays. This was not my first cruise but it was my first cruise over a major holiday. I'll admit I was a bit concerned about being overwhelmed with families but this was not the case. I lucked out with a great table--traditional late night dining--and had a good time with my tablemates each evening. This was a great itinerary for 11 nights--half port days and half sea days. We had wonderful weather. I did Princess tours in each port and liked the combination of touring and alone time in the ports. My only real complaint was that most of the entertainment (including movies) were geared for the families. I usually like to see a movie on sea days but on this cruise there were few choices. Also, I did not enjoy the lounge entertainment or the casino on this cruise as much as I have on past cruises. I will definately do another longer Christmas/New Years cruise in the future. flag fan Posted January 14, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 14, 2007 Thanks for the review. It is good to know that a holiday cruise is not necessarily all families all the time. I have wanted to try a Princess cruise. Your review makes me want to try one even more.
Rare Lois R Posted January 14, 2007 #3 Share Posted January 14, 2007 Hi Faith, glad you had such a good time:) I sailed the week before Christmas, it was a 7 dayer though. We had quite a few kids, but overall, they were quite well behaved. I wish I could cruise over New Years....but due to work, there is one time in each month I cannot leave...end of/beginning of each month:rolleyes: Anyway, welcome back and again, glad you had fun:D
Faith77 Posted January 15, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted January 15, 2007 Flag fan, I've thought about doing a ta but wondered how I'd handle mostly sea days. On my Dawn Princess cruise the first 3 days out were sea days and I found I really enjoyed the ship time. So now I figure that, at some point, I'll do a ta maybe with some extra port time at the beginning of the cruise. Lois, I work at a university library and May/June and over Christmas/New Years are the best times for me to cruise. I think that the longer cruise is the way for me to go when I cruise over the end of the year holidays. Do either of you have any next cruise plans? Rare Lois R Posted January 16, 2007 #5 Share Posted January 16, 2007 Good morning....next cruise? It is a 5 nighter on the refurbished Century:D Yes, I know it is only 5 nights:eek: but I really want to sail her again...been on her 3 times but not since her major $55 million overhaul back in the spring. She only sails 4/5 nights in the Caribbean and that is only about 4 months out of the year.....she then does Europe. It is a chance for me to go...5 nights or not, I am happy;) This is in April. Wanna go?:D
