Hi

I have posted a question on a separate thread but got no replies, so am posting it here, not sure if this is the right place.

We are booked on Rhapsody of the Seas in interior cabins 4541 and 4543, just wondering if anyone can advise me if this is a good location, is there any noise from the casino above, the stairwell nearby or any other comments. Its a larger interior, and I understand that the smaller interiors on decks 2 and 3 are tiny.

Any info greatly appreciated, thanks!

at a 151 square feet these inside cabins are still small. VERY dark 24 hours a day. (take an alarm clock or use the phone for wake up service- You could sleep wholemorning away. good for naps.

You should not hear anything from the casino- it is carpeted.

You wont hear nothing from the elevators-- noise, rude passengers are another story.

Dear Serene56 or anyone who knows (but I know Serene is THE go to

person usually...),

Maasdam BA205: do you give up room space for the larger balcony

or could this (and BA220) really have same room square footage and

just a nice balcony extension?

Hopefully,

margretha

I've never been on Vision, but was on Rhapsody which is the same kind of ship and was in 4551, which is a little further back than you but not too much. We had no noise problems at all, there are doors at the end of the hall that help with noise I am sure. I dont think I would want a room right next to that entrance, but back where you are should be fine.

Finally! I found someone on this thread who has been on Rhapsody! I'm not sure if you will see this as its around a year later but will try anyway. We are booked in cabins right near 4551 which was yours (booked 4541 and 4543) and was wondering how quiet this area is given that 4541 looks to be right near a stairwell. Is this a good area of the ship to be in, and are these larger inside cabins any bigger than the regular inside cabins on the decks below?

Here's hoping to get a reply from you :)

Thanks so much - I am keeping my eyes open in case outside cabins become available at a lower price as I would love a window with some light. But it will add on a cost of $1200 to the price of our cruise so not doable at the moment. That will pay for all the extras. We are only cruising in January 2010 (2 weeks to New Zealand) on our first ever cruise so there's still time.

We are considering booking cabin R-401. The Lido deck is above this suite and we are concerned about a possible noise issue. I was hoping someone here may have some information on the cabin. I would nomally avoid this deck however this is the only spot on this ship that offers this cabin.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

We have booked 8361 Verandah on the Triumph. Is this a good choice?

alan10,

I saw you just finished a cruise in 02/2009 according to your signature. Did you end up staying in room 8361 on the Carnival Triumph? If so, how was it? My wife and I have that room booked for a November 2009 cruise. Did you have any issues with noise from above? I believe the Hong Kong Noodle Company is above this room.

Thanks!

actually you are below the carpeted seating area of the Hong Kong Noodle -which is only opened from 11:30- 2:30 I wouldnt worry about noise in your balcony room- Now those people in those inside cabins--they should worry--LOL

Hey guys, my girlfriends and I just booked this cruise and I am so excited. This will be our 10th Carnival cruise, so we will be platinum. We were able to get a great deal yesterday on a balcony cabin that we just couldn't pass up. We will be in cabins 8361 & 8363. Just look for the girls with the leis and drinks in their hands at all times.

BTW I loved your story Kathy, I got a real kick out of it. Thanks for the laugh.

We are light sleepers and always made sure that we had cabins above and below us. On one cruise we had a service elevator across the hall. About 5 am every morning we heard loading and unloading. Loud noises! Now we make sure that there are cabins across the hall also.

We now do this as well after our experience with B503 on the Island Princess.

Can anyone tell me about the "lanai" staterooms on the Holland America Veendam? We are looking at a cruise going to South America and Antartica. Also, is there a big difference in going to Antartica on Dec. 21 rather than Jan. 10? Please help! Thanks.

cant help you with the stateroom= but canhelp you with the date.

Dec 21 will be a holiday sailing-which will cost a few more bucks I think it sails both xmas and New Years. If price is the same-- I would take the holiday sailings

On the Carnival Pride is there anyone that knows about room 1222? Is this going to be loud because the galley is at the aft of the ship and this is around half way ? There is a blank section right across from the room. Is this the crews section where they move things around all the time?

the galley wont have anything at all to do with noise where you are located.

Whats across from you are stairs that the crew use to get around the ship- the door is located there by your cabin but when you are in your cabin with the door closed you wont hear nothing from that area at all.

This ship has the best soundproofing in the cabins. for proof- go stand outside of cabin 1240 one night after 10:30 pm-- and let me know if you hear anything?

Do you want me thrown in the brig? I am not sailing this ship, it is someone I know but thanks for the laugh. How do you know about this ship, have you been in that cabin before?

Is the Dance Club something that they will hear up the hall?

We sailed Legend and Miracle. (sister ship to the Pride) we had 1211 on one of them.

They wont hear the club down the hall- my point being-- even standing outside you wont hear it. and if it can be heard in the hall- once the door is closed to the cabin you wont hear it at all.

  • 2 weeks later...

We normally always book between two passenger decks for any of the room categories. On our last Transatlantic on the Celebrity Century in April, we were between two passenger decks, an inside room but nothing was showing above us so we just assumed it was the cleaning areas for the room staff (mid ship). Well, I didn't think about the pool being two floors above and it was the deep end of the pool above us. All we could hear was the swishing of the water back and forth in the pool for the entire trip. The funny part that before we determined this, our cabin attendant said he would have it fixed LOL . Water was kept in the pool for the entire transatlantic crossing. At least it was a constant sound and no walking around or banging.....just something to keep in mind, take a look at two floors above if you have a dead space above you.

you heard the pool swishing two decks away???

imagine what it would sound like if you were right below.

We thought we would be ok as the pool was up two decks from us but didn't take into account that the deep end of the pool would be the deep end of the pool which ends up being the floor above us....so we ended up being directly below it.
