Suites & Butlers - ?

This is probably a dumb question, but in the Sky Suites, do you have a Butler AND a Cabin Steward, or does the Butler do both? Just wondering about gratuities....

The butlers love it when they get to be your "first"! Tell him as soon as you meet him that you have never had a butler before and to explain to you what services he offers. That should be the beginning of a wonderful relationship.

How many Suites would a Butler be lookng after at any given time?

They normally take care of one side of the ship.......such as the penthouse deck on the Mercury. Probably close to 10 cabins each.

Order breakfast on your balcony from your butler. It will be wonderful.

We weren't quite sure what to do with our Butler on our first Summit Cruise 4/05. We quickly learned to love the experience! We had a late tour and by the time we got back, showered & dressed, it was too late to make our table for dinner. Our butler came to the room with a couple of glasses of merlot to relax us and escorted us up to one of the informal specialty restaurants where a table was waiting. It was such a nice save! We are looking forward to our next cruise 10/08. We missed the sky suite pampering!

Haven't had one. Don't want one. Unfortunately we'll get one on our Journey sailing. I don't see how ALL staterooms can have one ... and a cabin streward too. I'm anxious to hear from those who sail in May.

Thx for comments - what a great service! a question for you - when is Jacksonville Port going to get more lines besides Carnival??? We lived in Mandarin '98-01 (and HUGELY miss it now, from freezing Chicago !! ) and then they get their new cruise port after we move!! Jax is such a great city and cant understand why more lines have not jumped on board yet.

I wish I had an answer for that one. Jacksonville has the elements for a good cruise port: proximity to an international airport, hotels in the area, decent downtown & beaches. Rumor has it that a new cruise port will be built on the other side of the bridge so that larger ships may use it - which makes sense. San Diego and Ft. Lauterdale have the right idea for cruise ports. I hope the Jacksonville powers that be do some research before they build.
