Any Rhapsody Reviews From Last Week??

Recommended Posts

Lori,

I was on the March 11th sailing. The only problem the ship was still having was the elevators. We never had any problems with the Centrum elevators, however the forward elevators were either inoperable or would get stuck quite a bit, so I would stay away from them if you can and take the stairs. This was my first time on the Rhapsody, so I could not really tell what was completed out of dry dock. There was one occasion when the vaccumm system for the sewer stopped working, but this was only for a very short time. Other than that, the ship seemed fine to us. Great food, great crew and great pool. If you were asking about something specific, let me know and I will try and answer it.

J

We also just got off yesterday, and the ship was fine. I heard, from a few different passengers, that some of the elevators would not move once they were on them and selected a floor. The passengers did not get stuck, as the doors would just open back up.

Frankly, if the Windjammer had not be rearranged, I would not have realized that the Rhapsody had been in dry dock.

We certainly had a nice time!

There were some reports that the telephone and computer systems on Rhapsody were upgraded during the drydock.

Is in-cabin internet now available?

If not, have the "internet cafe" or wireless laptop speeds improved?

...Thanks

Since me and my brother seem to be the only one's replying, no I did not see any internet hookups in the cabin. As far as the speed of the internet, it was not high speed by any means but much faster than dial up. I had to check email a couple of times and read the news and had to wait like what seemed to be an eternity ( maybe 20 secs or so) for the news page to load :D !

I just got off the Splendour and if that new Windjammer is how they did Rapsody, it is MUCH better. (JMHO) Much easier to get around, but less room to sit. I thought that would be a problem, but it never was. I think people just went out on the deck, or back to their rooms with the food.

I am on the Rapsody in June. BTW...... Rapsody will head to New Orleans after it comes back from Asia and Alaska. No idea why New Orleans.

No, and no.

In-cabin internet would require a major re-wiring which is not in the plans.

Connect and data were still same last week, per our friends who just returned.

The only elevator problems were the stbd side elevator on the forward end that would not go sometimes once you pushed the button, but the door would reopen after about 5 -10 seconds and you could then get off and try another one. Apparaently only 1 of the 2 elevators ever went past deck 10 and to the Viking Crown lounge.

New beds are fantastic and the Windjammer is also great. The stir fry station in the evening was excellent.

Lots of new carpet in the halls and around the pool. They seemed to be changing out several sink units in the Deck 4 forward cabins.

My wife checked her email once in the computer area and said the connection was a lot faster than it used to be.

Can't wait to be back on her in July.:)

Weather was great the whole time except for a thunderstorm in town at Cozumel late in the day. We were on the South end of the island and the sun kept shining. It was warm enough (but still pretty cool) on the sea days in the Gulf to lay by the pool.

We actually started to board at 11;30 and had to wait until noon for the Windjammer to open for lunch.:)

Have they fixed the jets in the soalrium pool? It's so cold without them! Is the casino the same - we heard they were putting in baccarat tables. I can't believe they are sending her to Asia for such a short time, then Alaska, then NOLA. <heavy sigh> Going to a reception at my TA's tomorrow where the RCCL rep will be in attendance - believe me, I will be quizzing about RCCL's plans for Galveston.

Don't know about the jets and did not see any changes in the casino.

I don't think the Asian bookings were as good as they thought they would be. It is one way to get another ship for a season in Alaska and to see if the Asian market can get interest when a ship is actually there.

Loyalty Ambassador last week would not comment until something official comes from Miami. She didmention 2 rumors that are floating around of which both involved a Radiance class ship coming to the area. With the Rhapsody going to NO, a bigger ship makes sense for ouston/Galveston.

I just got off the Splendour of the seas and was booking some cruises. The person showed the Rapsody going to Alaska next summer and then back to NO. He hedged and said he knew of no plans for any ship in Galveston other than the Voyager. I had also heard at Xmas from the person there about Alaska so I knew that part. However the part about NO was a surprise.

Now that tells me that RCCL is going to bring another ship to G/H. However it will not be the Rapsody at this point. Best guesses are a Radience class ship. However, once again, not year round. That is a bummer. I guess time will tell. When the Alaska cruises come out in May or so, lets see what happens.

I'm really hoping for a Radiance class ship in Galveston! The Radiance is the most beautiful ship I've ever been on!

Ali - currently my sources are other people on the board but I checked the RCCL website too. Tonight is the reception at my TA's with the RCCL rep so I am hopeful once I am done with him/her I shall "know all." :)

Wolfgang....please come back to this thread or start a new one and let us know what you found out. Inquiring minds want to know!!!

Cajun - I posted my measly info on the thread FYI - Texas Cruisers. Unfortunately not much to report and not really what we want to hear. We will have a ship for the winter 2008-09 but only seasonal and we don't know what ship yet - she said it will be three weeks before the info is available. I don't think she knows more - corporate is being tight lipped as usual.
