Anyone on the 7/24 Miracle??? ):

After reading these boards I was so pumped up and couldn't wait to get on. The ship itself was beautiful, we had the divider between our two balconies removed and that too was great. The food and the service were both excellent.

It was my first cruise and we were a group of four 20 something's so I guess I expected more than I should have. July is not the time for anyone but families to travel on Carnival. My main problem was with the over abundance of teenagers. They had every right to do what they wanted as long as it wasn't affecting anyone else. My parents would never have allowed me to run around as late as 5:00 AM throwing ice and pizza at my friends and yelling at the crew members (this happened 3 nights). The lack of supervision and minimal amount of respect these kids had was unacceptable. I know not all were bad but when not given any limits or supervision even good kids can be troublesome.

If your parents are high rollers in the casino Carnival does not stop 15 year old kids from gambling. The club was supposed to be 18 past a certain point but that wasnt strictly enforced. Without getting too graphic, the way some of these teens were acting and dancing was disgusting.

To top it all off on the last night at about 3:00 AM one of these teenagers somehow got onto the PA system and made an "Abandon Ship" Announcement!.... people were running around the ship with life vest on and it wans't a pretty sight. This came on the day that the ship was buzzing about new Al Queda threats to NY. The captain didn't come on until a half hour later and tell people it was a prank. News 4 was at the port when we got back but it was kept kinda quite

Not sure if I would ever choose Carnival again- at least not while school is out...

Well, you picked a bad time if you don't like too many kids going nuts. Try when school is in session if you can. Also, the 3AM thing was an isolated incident. It has never happened on any other ship in the fleet that I know of.

I think a repeat of that prank on Miracle is very unlikely. Carnival said the pranksters got into an area "normally locked" to access the P.A. system. Whoever left that area unlocked is probably looking for work flipping burgers now. The Miracle crew will be triple checking doors and security will be very tight for some time to come.

The poor management of children on board along with the number is a big drawback for me as well on holiday and summer sailing. I got kind of tired of the whole Carnival experience after my last cruise. Try another line. They do not all have the children/teenage issue.

Wow! I can't believe those kids. Did you complain? I wonder if anyone else did. I'll tell ya what, if kids like that are disrupting my cruise, that I paid good $$ for, I would complain over and over and over until it was resolved.

I find it funny that Carnival is the ONLY cruise line that kids run rampant on the ships- this doesnt happen on any other cruise ship?

I only sail during off peak times to avoid that stuff...as far as complaining--Carnival dont want to lose that family business so they tend to look theother way when little Johnny is getting out of hand.

I am kind of tempted to e-mail Carnival and see what their "official" stance is on kids doing this. I have heard so much about it, surely it can't be policy to allow it. I do believe you when you say they look the other way. I would think they would be concerned for the saftey of the kids, and allowing them to run around unsupervised at all hours doesn't sound very safe to me! Geesh. I just can't imagine being a parent and not knowing where or what my child was doing ESPECIALLY in the middle of the ocean, on a huge ship. Kids do some stupid things, and it sounds like it is only a matter of time b4 a tragedy happens.

i am going on miracle 8/21 - sorry about u experience - u know many of my books on read about cruising they all say the same about carnival - if u want a quiet non-family atmospher, carnival is not the right boat for u - carnival is very family oriented - u know u can't blame the kids for running around but the parents who never seem to care or watch them -

other than that....tell us about cruise - food, entertainment, staff, cabin -- was the above the other unfortunate thing u had - would love to hear.

fooblade.

You chose a horrid time to cruise. Any other comparible line (RCI, PRINCESS)will have similar problems with kids this time of year because it seems to me there are very few good parents anymore. There would most likely be less kids on Celebrity and any of the higher end cruiselines. There are tons of debates on these boards about kids but it doesn't change the facts.....a good portion of them are monsters.

Carnival is a GREAT line, especially for people in their 20's. Don't give up on it...just chose your sail time differently next time if you are able. The Miracle is indeed a great ship. I'm truly and deeply sorry your vacation was ruined by those un-parented children.

I have been on Carnival, RCI, NCL, HAL and Princess from when I was a teen on to my upper 20s (which I am now) and I have not seen any problems on other cruise lines like I have seen on Carnival. The last 2 Carnival ships I have been on, the kids were just aweful. Princess actually limits the number of kids under 18 they let on a ship on a given week. I try to sail offpeak, but sometimes travel at my undesirable times.

Yeah it was bad but I didnt let it ruin my whole trip. I would have loved to go another time but my girlfriend is a teacher....... I was in no way looking for a quite atmosphere- like I said we were seeing these kids all hours- in the Casino until 3:00 AM, staying in Frankensteins after the age cut off, and on the LIDO as late as I was there which some nights was approaching 5:00 AM......

For a cruise that was close to $1400 pp it wasnt what I expected. Anyway food was amazing and service excellent. The hypnotist and comedians were pretty good but I didnt go to any of the production shows. Casino dealers were not as friendly as in A.C. or Vegas so that kinda took some of the excitement out of it. Also watch what they pay on winnings- one occasion in Roulette they tried paying me for $3 on a number instead of $5 ($70 difference) and the craps bets can get Chaotic and mistakes there are understandable. Just gotta remember the casino isnt regulated by any state agency so slots pay a much lower percentage and dealers can get away with mistakes.

Our cabins were great and there really isnt a bad level on the ship.

I have seen those same kids on a few of the cruises I have been on... wow, they get around..

Perhaps I should smuggle a PAINTBALL gun on our future cruises so that I can TAG some of the hellions for future identification - the little BRATS... geesh

It's likely too late for those kids... they will turn into adult jerks... oh well...

Actually I've seen this complaint across most of the lines...it's not a problem exclusive to Carnival.

Kids running rampant is definitely not exclusive to Carnival. When I went on RCL Explorer of the Seas over New Years one year, the kids were so bad, the Captain had to implement a curfew. Kids on that cruise by far had the worst behavior then on any Carnival cruise I've been on! I know some don't have this option, but now I don't book cruises when the kids are out of school.

Our Legend cruise this week wasn't bad as far as kids' behavior. They were pretty good in my opinion. There were a large group of them in Karaoke every night and on the decks. They were pretty well behaved. Some of them got really drunk in Senor Frog's. They don't proof anyone As to the casinos I had the same feeling in the casino of unfriendly dealers. You have to watch them closely too. My husband was playing blackjack and the dealer busted. She then proceeded to take everyone's money as if she won. My H pointed it out and then the pit boss had to come over and return the money to all the players.
