woodmill100 Posted April 13, 2007 #1 Share Posted April 13, 2007 If anyone can, we'd be grateful. We will be in LV for a week prior to our Alaskan cruise. On our last full day in Vegas we will be driving back from the Canyon with an ETA of approximately 8 pm. Our flight to Vancouver is 07.30 so we really just need somewhere to crash for the night once we have dropped the car off. We will be staying at the Luxor at the start of our holiday but really just need something clean and cheapish but without all the pomp and ceremony of the Strip. It must be near the airport. Does anyone have any recommendations for us? Many thanks
hobo1937 Posted April 14, 2007 #2 Share Posted April 14, 2007 There is a Doubletree Hotel at I-215 and Warm Springs Road that is near the airport. It has shuttle service to the airport. Another place is the Marriott Courtyard at Green Valley and Sunset in Henderson. It also has shuttle service. Both places are just a few miles from the airport. Here are the links for each of them. http://marriott.com/hotels/travel/lasgv-courtyard-las-vegas-henderson-green-valley/ http://www.doubletree.com/en/dt/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=LASCHDT Hope this helps. SakeDad Posted April 19, 2007 #5 Share Posted April 19, 2007 There's also a Motel 6 near the airport. A Howard Johnson's as well. The closest intersection to the airport that has cheap hotel is Tropicana & Paradise. Do a search with those cross streets and you should find something. Hotel rates are high for Friday and Sat and a bit lower on Sunday but are really low on Tues - Thurs. DON
woodmill100 Posted April 20, 2007 Author #7 Share Posted April 20, 2007 Hi Don Thanks - good tip. Will keep that in mind.
daveco58 Posted April 20, 2007 #8 Share Posted April 20, 2007 Don is absolutely right - the Casino hotels pretty much give rooms away mid-week. they know they will make it up in the casino. lol. Non-casino hotels and motels are generally overpriced. the Motel 6 someone mentioned is like 70 bucks a night.
Curt Jerome Wild Posted April 20, 2007 #9 Share Posted April 20, 2007 Here are some hotels that are really the quickest to and from McCarren... Tropicana Hard Rock is just up Paradise Check out Alexis Park If you stay at Luxor again, you can do a quick run to the airport bypassing traffic by going west on Madalay Bay Road, curve left onto Giles, turn right on East Reno Avenue, then another curve left on Koval Lane, then turn right on Tropicana and there's the airport entrance. It's really short and quick, and I use this way even if I'm staying at a hotel on the West side of the strip or town by going down Dean Martin Drive, and sneak under the freeway...;) Hooters is close and on the correct side of the street to do a quick zip to the airport. Terrible's Hotel and Casino is a no frills local favorite and just up the block on Paradise Road. Howard Johnson on Paradise Road is almost walking distance (not literally) America's Best Value on Tropicana would also be cheap and close... I also like MGM Grand for closeness, just a 5 minute zip out on Tropicana, but it's might be too expensive, unless you check into the West Wing or something. Anyway, just specific ideas and thoughts that are all in actually driving time and traffic logisitcs the closest options to the airport. Hope this helps, or gives you more ideas. mfanderso Posted April 27, 2007 #10 Share Posted April 27, 2007 South Point Hotel & Casino is not far from the airport and they have free shuttle service to the airport. The rooms are VERY nice and mid-week are around $60.
lawsoncd3 Posted April 28, 2007 #11 Share Posted April 28, 2007 I just found this area of the boards... wow! what a wealth of information. As everyone has said, check the rates for mid-week. DH and I have stayed at the Luxor during mid-week just for the heck of it, and it was sooo economical. Southe Pointe is a good alternative as well. Desert Cruisers Posted April 28, 2007 #12 Share Posted April 28, 2007 The Howard Johnson on Paradise near the airport has been rebranded. I think that it is now a Knight's Inn. I agree with the comments re getting a good deal at a Strip hotel. Explore all of your options especially if you can book nonrefundable rates. Just be careful of some of the nonStrip locations. Balance a good deal with a safe location. You might consider keeping your car overnight. Sometimes it's cheaper to pay an extra rental day rather than a few additional hours.:)
DesrtDrmr Posted April 29, 2007 #13 Share Posted April 29, 2007 Desertcruiser is right about keeping the rental car one more night. Also, there are many hotels, as stated, on Paradise, and those are very close, and a straight shot to the airport. There's Terribles, (sounds awful, but is just basic), a Best Western, a Residence Inn, Embassy Suites, and Hard Rock right on Paradise..............more, too, that I cannot remember. I don't think you'll have any trouble............also mid week is less expensive unless there is a huge convention in town. You might even try Priceline. Have a great trip!
