Driving to NY

REGINA

Leaving on the Miracle this Saturday(the 19th).

Not sure if we will drive up that morning (anyone think it will be an easy ride) from Baltimore or if we will go up the night before.

If we go the night before, looking for somewhere safe to stay(not too expensive)

We are going on the Miracle in July and we are driving from Annapolis. Last summer we went on Royal Carribean out of New Jersey and the drive was a breeze. So easy that we decided to drive to New York this summer. We are planning on leaving early in the morning. Our only concern is that our cruise is on July 6th and we dont know how traffic will be..but we just figured we'd leave early.

Post after your trip and let us know how it was.

Its about a 3 hour or so drive from Baltimore and its very easy. If you leave around 8:30 you should get to the Manhattan piers around 12. There should be little traffic when coming in around 12. NJ turnpike to the Lincoln tunnel. North on tenth Avenue to 59th street left at 59th under the highway and then another left to the pier. Staying at a hotel the night before doesn't help traffic much.

July 6th shouldn't be very heavy many people take off that whole week.

You can stay somewhere in Jersey which would be cheaper than Manhattan and also safe.

The Jersey Turnpike traffic is so unpredictable that if I were driving up from Baltimore I would leave very early...give yourself at least an extra hour in case of an accident or heavy traffic. I came home from NJ to NY yesterday and was stuck in terrible traffic at the GWB, and although I took a short cut through rt. 46, it was still at least a half hour delay.

Just heard tonight's local news. There was a tractor trailer fire on the Jersey Turnpike and traffic was at a standstill for over an hour while they cleared it. Traffic was tired up both ways since an ambulance had to use the opposite lanes to reach someone.
