Christmas Day in Honolulu

Has anyone been cruising Hawaii on Christmas Day? We are considering the Hawaii Circle Cruise which will be in Honolulu on Christmas Day. I was wondering what type of excursions are offered for Christmas time.

Lots of things are closed on Christmas day. Most of the best places for tours are closed such as the Arizona Memorial and things like that.

We have spent many Christmas' in Waikiki. Kitti is correct that anything Federal will be closed on Christmas Day but the rest of island is bustling.

 

Many of the islanders are Buddhist and virtually everything is open - Ala Moana Mall is also open if you happen to be in the mood to shop. You probably won't find a lot of Christmas atmosphere, but if laying on the beach and having a nice dinner are your idea of relaxation you will enjoy yourself.

 

With Hawaii's main attraction being tourism you will find more to do than you could possibly accomplish.

Having been born and raised in Hawaii, Christmas is a magical time. While it is a Federal Holiday, many of the island's attractions are still open, and then there is the Beach, warm trade winds and the knowledge that you are in Hawaii and not stuck in the snow somewhere else on the mainland.

One of the things we really want to see is the Arizona Memorial. The itinerary says we are in Honolulu on Christmas Day so it will be closed. :(

What are the chances of the itinerary changing between now and December 2008?

And, yes I’d rather be in Hawaii instead of Chicago for Christmas! :D
