ebj Posted June 22, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 22, 2007 We are going on a cruise to Hawaii on the RCCL Rhapsody of the seas on the 18th of september 2007. We have reed some threads about the casino beeing closed, but some says that it will be open the hole time. Can anyone tell us if the casino is only open on sea days from Ensenada, or will it be open when we sail between the Hawaiian islands?
Tucker in Texas Posted June 22, 2007 #2 Share Posted June 22, 2007 It will be closed while cruising the islands. State law. Tucker in Texas
Rare Roz Posted June 22, 2007 #3 Share Posted June 22, 2007 On my recent Carnival Spirit cruise, the casino was open from Ensenada to Hawaii and also while we cruised between the islands. In other words, the whole time. I think it's only NCLA that has to close their casinos because it's an American cruise line sailing from one US port to another...no foreign port. Please correct me if I'm wrong about this. Roz
kitty9 Posted June 23, 2007 #4 Share Posted June 23, 2007 Roz, you are correct. The NCL ships that only cruise Hawaii, don't even have a casino, but other cruise lines, such as Celebrity and others, open their casinos as soon as they leave the Hawaiian ports. Of course, casinos aren't open in any port, unless they have a special arrangement.
Cruise Gypsy Posted June 23, 2007 #5 Share Posted June 23, 2007 It will be closed while cruising the islands. State law. Tucker in Texas This was the case on Princess - the casino was closed the five days while we cruised the Islands.

Hi, Few years ago (2003) we cruised on RCI's LOS from Ensenada to Hawaii, the casino was open when the ship was in the international waters. melika091900 Posted June 23, 2007 #7 Share Posted June 23, 2007 we just sailed on celebrity infinity 14 days hawaii from san diego , the casino only closed when we were at port ... between the islands it was open, and all the sea days it was open.. if im not mistaken NCLA ships have no casinos... but other ships sailing from the mainland, can have theirs open since they are foreign flagged
RSGS315 Posted June 23, 2007 #8 Share Posted June 23, 2007 The NCL ships sailing in Hawaii don't have casinos, all other NCL ships do. Ginnie
isujim Posted June 23, 2007 #9 Share Posted June 23, 2007 It will be closed while cruising the islands. State law. Tucker in Texas this was not the case when we were on the Infinity/Celebrity.........the ship went outside the International Water boundary and the casino opened each night enroute to the next island..........I would assume the Rhapsody will do the same........too much lost revenue if they don't. The only night we did not have the Casino open was the overnight with no evening cruising when we were at Maui...............
morriscats Posted June 23, 2007 #10 Share Posted June 23, 2007 The casino on Celebrity was open after we left port. But we are on Princess in November and am told Princess will close the casino during the island hopping. Does anyone know why X stays open and Princess does not? I can understand NCL.
