Guarantee "Cross Referencing" cabins? Anyone know about this?

I spoke with a nice rep at HAL today who said that if we and our traveling companions (another couple) book our reservations for a guaranteed cabin separately, then have our reservations "Cross Referenced" HAL will do everything possible to locate our cabins next door to one another.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

I have no experience with regard to booking cabins, but when I have traveled with friends and we wish to be seated together in the Dining Room, our reservations were crossed referenced. It is not hard to do. All your agent needs is the booking number for each reservation and it can be accomplished.

Sounds like the same thing they do with dining. You have your reservations "linked" for dining so that you can be seated at the same table with the people you "link" with. Sounds like cross-referencing just means what the HAL rep said. They'll try to locate you in a cabin as close as possible to that of your friends. Can't imagine that would be too hard to do ... as long as the types of cabins you and your friends booked are located in close proximity; i.e., if you are booking an outside guarantee of a certain class and your friends are booking an inside ... HAL would have to have two cabins of the minimum class you each booked close together. Otherwise you might wind up on different decks. But I would imagine in most cases, putting people in cabins located within close proximity of each other shouldn't be a problem.

At least that's the way I am reading it.

Blue skies ...

Previous posters are correct ... any bookings, even cabin guarantees, can be cross-referenced. You'll be shown as wishing to dine together (be sure you both picked the same seating), and in the case of guarantees you'll be shown as wishing cabins close by each other. As others have said, this doesn't mean you'll be right next door to each other, but you may be ... the cruise line will attempt to book the cabins near each other.

Yes, we've done this many times when cruising with other family members. Our cabins have always ended up either right next door, or close by (even when coordinating with different categories, such as an outside / inside).

We have had similar experiences, however if there is limited availability,

they may not be able to accommodate you.
