knorrisb07 Posted October 30, 2008 #102 Share Posted October 30, 2008 We tend to overpack. And recent trip is no exception. We have luggaged around many items that we didn't end up using. But we do found few things recommended by the cruisers here that really helped. 1. Digital camera with a lots of memory cards. (DH rented a Canon wide angle lens and we used it a lot) 2. Comfortable walking shoes. They are life savers. We got ours from LL Bean for $69 when they are on sale 3. Binoculars (we got zen-ray Vista, we will miss a lot if we didn't bring our binoculars. It seems everything has been supersized in Alaska). 4. dress in layers. It is cold in the morning and evening. But we didn't use the handwarmer 5. Frommer's guide book. I learnt so much there, which compliment the CC very well. You got a good list here. I will bring enough memory cards.
McHale Posted November 1, 2008 #103 Share Posted November 1, 2008 Binoculars are a must... a couple if you have them. Obviously, a camera as well!! 1.Good waterproof windbreaker( lightweight) 2.Comfy lounging cloths 3.A little Irish for the coffee- and the mug with a lid to sip it 4.A few zip lock baggies- to store extra cheese or fruit(if you have a fridge) 5.Short extension cord- our main outlet was at the desk- the extra length allowed us to plug in chargers , etc. and keep them under the desk or bed -out of the way. This freed up space on the desk. Thoughtful planning is fun. Enjoy! ( Thanks for the memories! Wish we were going again.)

HapiFeet Posted December 3, 2008 #105 Share Posted December 3, 2008 It's great to read all these suggestions! With all these warm clothes, you still have to pack an extra wardrobe for the dining room, right? Or did a lot of people skip dressing up for dinner/formal nights? poolwife Posted December 4, 2008 #106 Share Posted December 4, 2008 People still dress up for dinner. I have always used a comfortable pair of gore-tex (water proof) walking shoes.
dhmom99 Posted December 8, 2008 Author #107 Share Posted December 8, 2008 It is nice to dress up once a while for a formal dinner. I would not skip that.

With all these warm clothes, you still have to pack an extra wardrobe for the dining room, right? Or did a lot of people skip dressing up for dinner/formal nights? most people still dress up for formal nights. But I am sure you can find many people in the buffet lounge as well. ;)
