Rowan555 Posted September 21, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 21, 2007 A post in another thread got me curious, and I'd love to see some photos people took on some of the first Carnival ships, or other ships "back in the day" when a 27,000 ton ship seemed huge. If such a thread already exists, I'd love a link. My only cruising experience prior to the Celebration in 1998 was on a one day cruise to the Bahamas in 1986 on something like Sea Escape - not totally sure of the name. I wish I had taken lots of photos, because I don't really remember any of it. I DO remember that I was 14 and they let me gamble in the casino, and I had a margarita with my dad. My, how times have changed! Anyway, I'd love to see some photos from the Carnivale, Mardi Gras, and other ships from that era!
mek Posted September 21, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 21, 2007 I was on the Mardi Gras in 1982 and the Festival in 1989 and I have tons of photos. Unfortunately, they're not digital so I'm not sure how they could be posted?????
mcfam5 Posted September 21, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 21, 2007 That is pretty much the only way you would get those old photos up on the boards. Would love to see them too, if you figure out a way. I wish I had taken more photos on my 1992 trip on the Carnivale.
MarylandLady Posted September 21, 2007 #4 Share Posted September 21, 2007 I need to scan old photos also, but check out the thread "Whatever happened to . . ." under Cruise Discussion Topics. There are lots of stories on the older ships! What fun they were!!! And beautiful! :D I was going to give you the link but this thing is acting funny tonight!

I will have to scan my pictures if you want to see them. I love how you said "back in the day", that sounds like it was so long ago. Well, for me it was 19 years and that really is not that long ago, but when you consider all the changes that have been made, it really is "back in the day". Ships as long as three football fields, that weigh 110 tons, computers, digital cameras and so much more. And the newest ship the Splendor, will be even larger. mek Posted September 21, 2007 #7 Share Posted September 21, 2007 Yes I have a scanner, but I've never tried photos. Do they come out clear? We're leaving tomorrow for a Canada/New England cruise on the Crown Princess, so I'll try when I get home.
DarthGrady Posted December 24, 2007 #8 Share Posted December 24, 2007 Just curious if any of you ever got those old pics from Carnival's original ships uploaded? I think they would be interesting to see.
