WillCruz4Food Posted September 28, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 28, 2007 I was on the Legend cruise out of Tampa that saild on 9/16. While I was on the ship the most forward portion of the bow in front of the big glass windows was locked up. One of my favorite late night activities is going to the bow of the ship and watching the night sky with the wind blowing in my face. Any idea why they locked the doors on this cruise? Is this becoming a common practice?

lvtotrvl1 Posted September 28, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 28, 2007 Most cruises that I have seen all have the bow closed off....I think it was since the Titanic Scene????
JonnyCruiser Posted September 28, 2007 #4 Share Posted September 28, 2007 Most cruises that I have seen all have the bow closed off.... Exactly. Such was the Miracle when I sailed her last week, and other ships I have been on in the past.
WillCruz4Food Posted September 28, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted September 28, 2007 I was on Miracle in 06 and spent time every night on the front. Man, that's disappointing. It's always so quiet up front, most people try to stay out of the wind so I really enjoyed retreating to the front after a few loud hours in the disco. :(
DqALEX Posted September 28, 2007 #6 Share Posted September 28, 2007 I liked the Celebration for that reason. You could go up over the bridge at night and see the Bow and feel the wind

My first cruise was on the Celebration and now I always go straight to the front to see if there is anyway to get all the way to the front without being behind the glass. Is this possible on the newer ships? The Freedom for example?
matj2000 Posted September 28, 2007 #8 Share Posted September 28, 2007 Are you talking about the true bow of the ship? Or the furthest foward access to the front(which is usually above or below the bridge) which pax are allowed. I have never been on a ship that gives public access to the bow, but I have heard on Alaskan cruises they do. Usually this area is the crew sunning area. On some ships they have hot tubs and maybe small pools for them.........correct me if I am wrong.:)
Chriz Posted September 28, 2007 #9 Share Posted September 28, 2007 On the Explorer & Freedom class ships (RCCL) I know that you can walk in this area. Our experience on Carnival is that you only have a limited area / walkway in front on certain decks. On the Conquest class, this was located 1 deck above the bridge, you could walk out and look down the side of the ship. You have to walk through a cabin hallway and out a door, but I can't remember which level...
