ErinD92 Posted October 9, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 9, 2007 Tell me all about it!!! How long did the wedding last? Did you eat in the dining room or specialty restaurants after the wedding? Did you do favors on the ship or bags before hand? Anything that was done that you didn't expect? I am getting married on Jan 22, 2008 on the Caribbean Princess -- and I am nervous!!!!!!!! mandabear Posted October 9, 2007 #3 Share Posted October 9, 2007 Glad to hear that it went so smoothly! I am getting married aboard the Caribbean Princess on May 19, 2008! If you have the time, I have a few questions: 1) Where was your ceremony location and were you pleased with the site? 2) How long was the ceremony? Did you add anything like the sand ceremony or a reading? 3) Did you have a reception afterwards? If so, where? (and do you recommend it?) 4) Did you have appointments for hair/makeup at the spa onboard? If so, were you satisfied? Thanks so much and congratulations! 1125Pincessbride Posted October 9, 2007 #4 Share Posted October 9, 2007 Congrats! Am thrilled to hear it went great! Couple of questions... When do you get the bouquets/boutenierres etc.Are they delivered to the rooms or are they at the chapel? Did you get to go on the bridge? If so, can the wedding party go , or just the bride and groom? Will they take a "sunset photo" the night of the wedding ??
Sinfonia2005 Posted October 9, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted October 9, 2007 Right here goes when you arrive onboard there will be a letter waiting for you in your room from wedding co-ordernator asking you to meet them the following day, their she will go over everything with you , if for instance you want to add a reading or if you would like to walk down the aisle escorted or alone , your choice. Yes they do take pictures of you on the bridge, but they only allow the bride & groom on the bridge. i went to the spa to get my hair & make up done, they do ask you to wash & dry your own hair before hand, i had my hair put up in curls and my makeup done and it cost $125, i was very pleased with the results, My bouquet was red yellow and peach roses, really really nice, they give you your bouquet outside the Hearts & Mind chapel which is on deck 16 right oppersit the spa these are the only 2 things on that floor, Dave my husband had to meet the Captain half an hour prior to the wedding in the chapel, the chapel is quite small but beautiful , the take about 70 pics in total then you get the proofs back a day or so later, tip here they will sell you all the proofs for $200 if you ask, because its so hard just picking a few from the package, so make sure you ask, also you can request them to take certain pics that you want done and they will do it . We ate at Sterlings on the night but it was only us 2 as non of our familys came with us but when we went to pay the manager said that it the bill was taken care of and wished us well. there was another wedding party in sterlings and a lot of guests with them and the waiters all joined in with tapping the glasses, The cake is to die for so mmmmmmm and so much too we ended up giving it away lol, all in all please do not try to worry they take care of everything the only thing you need to worry about is just enjoying the day, oh and please stay in your wedding gown because everybody loves seeing a bride & groom . We where congratulated by everyone So be happy to you all and many best wishes for the future. if you want to ask anything else please feel free. redjoan Posted October 10, 2007 #6 Share Posted October 10, 2007 Hi Maria, We were the other wedding group in Sterling Steak House on Tuesday night! Everything you said about Princess and their weddings I would agree with you on. I am the Mother of the Bride and everything went off perfectly for us! We couldn't have been more pleased and we had 27 with us for the wedding! We gave all guests a welcome bag, the day we arrived. I would be happy to share the contents of it with anyone wishing to know or consider our options. EVERYONE LOVED OUR BAGS! They used them the whole cruise! We had a 2 hour reception at Skywalkers with a DJ, open bar, cake and hors d'oeurves, 4:30-6:30. (perfect) Then we all went to Sterling Steak House for dinner at 7:00. The only thing we were a little disappointed in was the chapel. We have been on the Caribbean Princess 4 times previous to this sailing and know that the Internet Cafe WAS the wedding chapel originally. We watched many brides there! They moved the chapel up to the top deck in a little room! Our guests were sitting separated in the room and the wedding party, MOH and Best Man could not even stand next to the Bride and Groom as there was not enough room and no one would be able to see. All in all, we only spent about 15 minutes there, so I guess it was ok, but I couldn't help but think every time I went into the internet cafe on the ship ----how nice it would have been to have my daughter walk down that aisle! Wish they could redesign the chapel. Our family and friends watched on the web cam and that wasn't the greatest....but better than nothing and it allowed them to be a part of our ceremony. ALL IN ALL WE HAD A WONDERFUL WEDDING AND I WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE! Who was your photographer? Allison by any chance? She did a great job with us? What time was your wedding? If any one has any questions, I would be happy to share my plans, as so many from this web site have helped me with this great task! :-)
mandabear Posted October 10, 2007 #7 Share Posted October 10, 2007 Oh I am SO excited to hear about all of these happy brides with wonderful weddings... thanks for asnwering my questions... and if you don't mind just two more... please tell me about the cake, especially about the flavors you chose. I am having a very hard time imagining what the combinations of cake/icing/frosting would taste like, and I am very worried that I will choose something gross! Also, about the flowers, did you request those colors or were they a surprise? RedJoan, the wedding for your daughter sounds EXACTLY like what I am trying to plan... can you tell me what time the ceremony was and if you liked the way the schedule of ceremony/reception/dinner went(or if you had too much down time...or not enough down time!). Thanks!
Sinfonia2005 Posted October 10, 2007 Author #8 Share Posted October 10, 2007 Hi redjoan We was married at 2pm, and our photographer was kerry who was wonderful too, i did'nt know that the internet cafe was the origanal chapel , but i agree i think the chapel is very small and not very apt if you have a lot of guests. wish your daughter all the very best from me and tell her she looked like a princess herself

redjoan Posted October 10, 2007 #10 Share Posted October 10, 2007 I am more than happy to tell you of our experiences on Caribbean Princess, Mandabear, with our daughter's wedding. It was with some previous shares on this web site that we decided our wedding plans, so I am happy to do the same. First, our timing for all events with the wedding were perfect! The wedding was at 3:30 and then all went to the Centrum for a group photo. That took us right to the time for the reception: 4:30 - 6:30 at Skywalkers Lounge. There we had an open bar, DJ, hors doeurves, and the cake. The cake was carrot cake with buttercream frosting and was just ok. We were warned that this was the best cake choice available, as they are simply frozen. We were ok with it...it was fine. At Skywalkers, we did the toast, the first dance, mother-son/father-daughter dance, cake cutting. Then we left at 6:30 and went to Sterling Steak House for dinner at 7:00. It was perfect. I would be more than happy to answer any other questions you may have about our wedding. I cannot say enough how pleased we were from start to end! What ship are you considering and when is your wedding? Joan
joseyjb Posted October 10, 2007 #11 Share Posted October 10, 2007 Redjoan - thanks for sharing wedding details. I'm planning one for next Oct on Caribbean Princess and would love to know what you had in your welcome bags :)
redjoan Posted October 10, 2007 #12 Share Posted October 10, 2007 We had LL Bean type canvas bags printed locally with the ship imprint/logo which came with the personalized playing cards we had made. They have you approve the logo....it was great---of a cruise ship. We used that to have printed on the welcome bag. Bag was canvas with royal/caribbean blue on the handles. Inside we had gorgeous velour beach towels (that was our biggie) with the same logo embroidered on them. (and very reasonably, too!) We had the personalized deck of playing cards, a water bottle for each to go with the towel, and had personalized labels made for them, personalized cruise post it notes, colorful pens to go with them, a seashell photo album and a beach theme disposable camera, along with a clear wedding favor baggie filled with little goodies: chap stick, highlighter, snickers, purell, gum. Also inside was a "Meet N Greet" invitation, a Wedding program booklet, and a seating chart for dinner at Sterling Steak House. I can send you information if you would like as to where you can get these things the least expensive! I spent many hours online searching! LOL You can give me your email address and I will forward the info to all. I can truly say that I had the best time of my life researching all this! Caribbean Princess is the greatest ship! You will love it! Good luck planning. If you have any specific questions, just email me with cruise critic as the subject. I can honestly say that our experiences with TWE were great, too! Happy times all around! Joan redjoan@aol.com

Maria & Dave Hi Sinfonia2005: Congratulation on your wedding. I am asking questions on behalf of my son and daughter-in-law to be. They have never cruised before. They are contemplating doing a wedding cruise. They will get marry either in summer of fall of 2009, depends on the ship and itinerary. I assume you and your husband are non U.S. citizens. They are Canadians, do they have to obtain Canadian marriage licence first then get another on in the States. The embarkation port will probably be Fort Lauderdale and the ceronomy will be on the ship, not at the port. The latest price that shown on e-brochure I receive my Princess is $1,800.00 for the wedding and 4450.00 for the licensing cost. It that the price you paid recently? I have lots other questions to ask if you don't mind to answer. I will ask you after I receive answers form above-mentioned questions. mandabear Posted October 15, 2007 #22 Share Posted October 15, 2007 I think there might be a typo...the license fee can't be $4450... maybe you meant $450? If it's $450, then that is what I paid for my at-sea package as well.
