kellig Posted January 10, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 10, 2008 Is it worth the extra money flying to Misty Fjords if I am planning a 6 hour Kenai Fjords trip? Thanks.
NancyIL Posted January 10, 2008 #2 Share Posted January 10, 2008 A float plane trip and a boat trip are very different. Our experience with a Misty Fjords flight was less than optimal due to the weather, but most people have very scenic flights. Our Kenai Fjords boat trip was on a foggy day, but we still saw the Aialik Glacier very clearly, as well as quite a bit of wildlife.
kellig Posted January 10, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted January 10, 2008 I suppose I am having a hard time deciding if I want to spend the money due to the high cost on a flight to misty fjords, and instead fork it over for a heli glacier trek. My other option is to do a hiking glacier trek on the mendallhall that doesn't require a flight and spend the money on a float plane trip somewhere else. I don't think I can afford to do more than one flying option, so just not sure what would be best. Any suggestions?
NancyIL Posted January 10, 2008 #4 Share Posted January 10, 2008 Misty Fjords is the only flight we did in the cruise ports, so others will have to help you decide about the helicopter trek vs. the hiking glacier trek.
Budget Queen Posted January 10, 2008 #5 Share Posted January 10, 2008 I have been on a lot of flights in Alaska, and I give a slight edge to a glacier helicopter landing. But, I frequently do more than one flight on my trips. ALL great. :)
