Uses for Duct Tape on a Cruise??

I bought my travelers duct tape from Magellan's catalog. Just in case.

When we got caught in a really bad storm, the drawers kept coming open

and slamming shut. We duct taped them and went back to sleep.

Also learned from the boards if you have one of those awful shower curtains

that glue themselves to you, clip a couple of clothes pins to the bottom,

and believe or not, no more problems. So now I take clothes pins.....handy

for hanging wet clothes, putting papers together on the desk so they don't

go all over.

These boards are the absolute best for helping us learn from others'

experiences.........

ps. I noticed Lowes and Home Depot carry a duct tape actually named

Duck tape.....nothing like taking advantage of an opportunity...Mimi

Dr. DNA-you are so right on!! There was a passenger on our last cruise (you know the type, everytime you turn around there she/he is...) who I never, not even once on this 2 week incredible voyage around Cape Horn, had a good thing to say about anything. Duct tape would have been too much of a temptation for me...and much too good for her.;)

Actually No. To the contrary, duck tape has been around longer than duct tape. It was developed to seal ammo cases during WW2.

We have heard of many fabulous uses for duck tape, with the best being for budget Brazillians. I also believe they make great candle holders at home ;)

During our recent cruise we had 4 uses for our roll of duck tape, and returned home with an almost empty roll.

  1. Smashed suitcase. Yes, insurance will replace but by patching the case back together, we did not have to buy one onboard
  2. Taping our drink bottles into the backpack bottle holders to save bag space
  3. Taped our vitamin container shut so we did not have them scattered through our luggage (happened on an earlier trip)
  4. Most importantly - we cruised into a cyclone and in rough seas at 2am on the second night, the latch on our balcony door failed and the door slid open. We could not get it to relatch and did not feel like waiting for maintenance, so the door was successfully taped shut till maintenance repaired in the morning
