NCL Spirit engine problems...

Unfortunately, its been about two months this coming week. One must keep in mind ships aren't cars. Any information forthcoming has been hearsay. No official information has come from NCL.

It appears an engine room fire may have caused the engine problem. NCL runs their ships hard, usually with aggressive itineraries. Because the ship is running on one less engine, she is sailing slower, but at a speed of their older ships.

They do know what is wrong. Part or parts have to be built and milled. We were worried that there might be an early drydock to fix the problem, but it appears it will take until fall for the parts to be built and milled and shipped. Until that time, it appears NCL will sail the ship slower, around the same speed as their older ships. Itineraries have to be changed a bit to make their new itineraries, mostly due to the speed of the ship.

No one knows what caused the fire. No one knows what parts need to be built and milled. What we do know I described above.
