Just back from Hawaii cruise

I want to thank everyone on this board for all the helpful ideas the gave. It was a great trip! Because of the time constraints, a cruise is not the best way to see Hawaii, but it is very economical. Hawaii and its people are very beautiful and I hope to come back soon.

You are right that a cruise is not the best way to see Hawaii, but it is the best way to see a little of everything and determine what you'd like to see again.

We did a cruise in 2002 and liked what we saw. This year we did two weeks on land, one week on Oahu and one week on Maui. Maui no ka oi; Maui is the best.

Next year we will be doing one week on Maui for our son's wedding. In 2006 we are considering one week on the Big Island and one week on Maui. Did I happen to mention; Maui no ka oi.

All of this as the result of our cruise.

If you are thinking about doing a couple of days here and a couple of days there...check out this local company that I've used before for interisland trips. If this doesn't get you exactly where I intended, make sure to look at the Roberts Overnighters, and since you are not local - check the visitor dealy. I think you would probably have to call them though if you want to go from one island to another, stay a couple of days, then go to another island for a couple of days (not round trip in other words)

You might find a good deal, you never know.

I have a question about storing luggage. We deport our ship at 8am and our flight does not leave until 10pm that same evening. What do you do with your luggage in the mean time? Is there a place to store it while you play during the day? Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks, You can email me at georgehegedus@yahoo.com

Aloha Towers stores luggage for $5 a bag. We flew out at 6:30 pm. After having our color called, finding our luggage, boarding the bus and getting to the airport it was closer to 11:00am then to 8:00am. Continental just checked in our bags and we took a taxi downtown. If you take a shore excursion with the ship, they pack your bags with you on the tour bus, which saves alot of time. Something to think about.

Regarding a hotel, I was extremely pleased with the Alana Doubletree Waikiki. It was walking distance to the Alamoana shopping center, several eating establishments; most everything that I wanted to see/do was handy.

One, to me, VERY important fact was that it was a short walk from the hotel to Cold Stone Creamery.

There are no tangibles but how you taste; and I've never forgotten that.
