One way to find out if you or another poster inadvertantly did something wrong is to contact Laura Sterling I understand she is more than happy to investigate into why a particular thread has been removed. Sometimes, I believe, threads will be returned to the boards if they have been deleted in error.

Good Luck

Interesting that it was pulled given the Norwalk story on the Sun Princess was the top news story in Vancouver both this morning and tonight.

Norwalk virus hits cruise ship

WebPosted Sep 20 2004 08:08 AM PDT

1x1trans.gif1x1trans.gifVANCOUVER - At least 84 passengers have gotten sick with a suspected Norwalk-like virus on the Sun Princess' final Alaska cruise of the season – which ended Monday in Vancouver.

Princess Cruises spokesperson Julie Benson says most of them have gotten over the the gastro-intestinal illness – after suffering flu-like symptoms such as nausea, dizziness, vomiting and exhaustion.

She also says the crew did a good job of containing the virus.

"We have a team of specially-trained sanitizers and cleaners who immediately go around the ship and sanitize anything that passengers could touch," she says.

"That includes hand rails, elevator buttons, casino chips, gym equipment, door handles and things like that."

The chief medical health officer for Vancouver Coastal Health says the disease can be serious for people with low immune systems. But Dr. John Blatherwick says people shouldn't be alarmed.

"These people do not present a great problem to British Columbians coming back from their cruise. Most of them will get over it within two to three days," he says.

"It's a terrible experience for them because you're on a cruise where eating is an enjoyable thing, but it's also one that you get over fairly quickly."

The ship will be further decontaminated while it's in port.

I started a thread today with a story about the Sun Princess in Vancouver today with 84 Norwalk sicknesses on board. The thread has disappeared. Did I do something wrong when I posted it?

It's against community guidelines to post it in the manner you did. You can paraphrase a story or post a press release that is properly cited but not cut and paste news articles. While I am sure this story was probably legit, the point of it all is to submit our opinions or the facts that will allow us to form them.

Had it been said "An article from Cruise News Daily today (09/20/04 edition) told of an outbreak of Norwalk Virus and blah blah blah..." or "The Orlando Sentinel (09/19/04) reports that blah blah blah...." would work. Or "Here's a press release my TA sent me directly from Princess ..."

The point is to identify the source as credible and reliable.
