Gardening Girl Posted February 13, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2008 We are considering a cabin relatively close to the Launderette on the Mariner and just wondering if there's alot of noise from people congregating and talking around the launderette and actual noise from the washing machines & dryers. I know that the hours are from 8a.m to 10p.m, is that strictly followed?? Any feedback would be appreciated!! Thanks, GG
canadagal Posted February 14, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 14, 2008 We actually prefer a cabin near the laundrette for convenience. It's nice to nip down and drop something in the wash and then go back to your cabin instead of hanging around waiting for the cycle to end. Also, it's easier to monitor when the machines are not being used. I've yet to encounter a noise problem on any ship even the mass market ones from noise in that area. Gardening Girl Posted February 14, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted February 14, 2008 Hi Canada gal, thanks for your feedback, hadn't thought of that as a benefit. How close were you to the launderette. We're considering one 2 cabins across from it. We live in the country with absolutely no noise so when we travel, we try to avoid things like elevators, ice machines, etc. Speaking of that, are there ice machines on the Mariner, and where are they located?? Thanks GG
OrpingtonT Posted February 14, 2008 #4 Share Posted February 14, 2008 I, too, have noticed no noise from the launderette and have thought often that land based hotels have a lot to learn about soundproofing from ships like Mariner and Voyager. They are remarkably quiet and peaceful, especially if you discount creaking etc in bad weather. As far as ice is concerned, there are no machines because your butler or room stewardess will replenish your ice bucket as required. Keep it in the fridge when you are out. Ragnar Danneskjold Posted February 16, 2008 #5 Share Posted February 16, 2008 The laundrettes on Mariner are well designed. The door opens onto a cross hallway, with no cabins, and so there is no noise/traffic due to them in the main halls. Dont worry about it. I'm also cautious about elevators and ice machines, so I know where you are coming from :D
Gardening Girl Posted February 16, 2008 Author #6 Share Posted February 16, 2008 Thank-you for your reassurance, we did book close to the launderette. GG
JMARINER Posted February 16, 2008 #7 Share Posted February 16, 2008 . Speaking of that, are there ice machines on the Mariner, and where are they located?? Thanks GG There are no public ice machines on the stateroom decks. Your cabin attendent will keep your ice bucket full or you can call room service and they will deliver more. OTT you won't have a problem with noise from the laundry room. Most times the door is kept shut and after 6pm or so the place is usually empty, except for someone running own to iron a shirt on formal nights.
