ck93 Posted March 22, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 22, 2008 When the Serenade returns to San Juan, our flight leaves around 8 p.m. that evening. Would you... 1) Stay in a day room for @ $135 which you would able to keep your luggage in a room until your flight. 2) Get a day pass for about $25 - 30 pp. If so, where would you put your luggage or would you chance it and have the luggage valet provided by RCCL? Sorry for all of the questions! I know I'm going to be broke by the end of this cruise and I'm trying to save $$ since I'm officially a cruiz addict now! TIA!!! Sue L Posted March 22, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 22, 2008 The luggage valet service is supposed to be wonderful. It is 20$ per person for 2 bags. How many people in your group?

Sue L Posted March 22, 2008 #4 Share Posted March 22, 2008 Send your bags with the valet and get the day passes. Just make sure you got to the airport by around 6-6:30 as it is a zooey airport.

cb at sea Posted March 22, 2008 #6 Share Posted March 22, 2008 You'll have about a 12 hour wait--I'd get the room, so I could shower and get ready for the flight after being at the pool or beach (or wherever) alll day!
JSeals4316 Posted March 23, 2008 #7 Share Posted March 23, 2008 We used RCI's luggage valet and went to Plaza Las Americas for shopping and then used a taxi to get to the airport.
melbur Posted March 23, 2008 #8 Share Posted March 23, 2008 They also do the free luggage storage at Barrachina's in Old San Juan - we do this every time - but we just shop or tour around the city - the cab stand is a doorway away from Barrachina's so you can get to the airport easy enough when you're ready to go! sea-cruise Posted March 23, 2008 #9 Share Posted March 23, 2008 We've checked our luggage at Barrachina's as well, and it's always been convenient. You can take a ferry (.50 cents) across the bay, hop on the shuttle and tour the Bacardi factory, or just tour the 2 forts and do some shopping in OSJ. P.S. I see you're cruising soon...Bon Voyage! :)
CLQ Posted March 23, 2008 #10 Share Posted March 23, 2008 We're just home from the Serenade. Had a late flight home, so we used RCI's luggage valet program. Couldn't have been easier. We had a connecting flight in Miami, and when we got home at midnight our luggage was some of the first off the plane. Not saying that RCI's program will make that happen. What I am saying is that it worked as advertised and we simply walked off the ship carring backpacks for the day. Hope this program becomes widespread, as we would do it again every time. Also ate lunch at Barrachina. Wow!
ck93 Posted March 23, 2008 Author #11 Share Posted March 23, 2008 P.S. I see you're cruising soon...Bon Voyage! :) Aw! Thanks! I will keep everything you all said in mind! Thanks again all!;)
waterbugohio Posted March 23, 2008 #12 Share Posted March 23, 2008 OK, we are in the same situation, but our airline doesn't do the valet service. So, does anyone have any suggestions for a great excursion in San Juan?? We will probably tour the forts on our own pre cruise. RCI's excursions would take care of the luggage, but they don't seem very interesting. Not sure if I want to do the rum tour. Any other ideas. What are the day passes? and where are the available?? do arrangements have to be made ahead of time? If we are really tired (which I'm sure we will be) a day just laying by a pool sounds pretty nice.
ck93 Posted March 24, 2008 Author #13 Share Posted March 24, 2008 I will let you know what we end up doing when we get back!:D As for the day passes, you pick a participating hotel/resort and are able to use their facilities for the day... doesn't include use of a room though. The ones in San Juan my TA listed for day passes are: Best Western Hotel & Casino Hilton Caribe Hampton Inn Marriott San Juan Resort Some you can arrange a day pass in advance, but some you can't like the Hampton Inn.
