albyman32 Posted April 11, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 11, 2008 If I book a balcony guarantee on the Carnival Spirit for what seems to be a fairly full boat (summer Alaskan cruise) what are the odds that I end up with a 7A obstructed view on deck 5 with the lifeboats in front of me? Pretty high?
gazingm42 Posted April 11, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 11, 2008 As you said there a lot more 7A rooms available for this summer on the Alaska trips. But you do have pretty good odds of getting something besides 7A. I know several friends on this cruise in the past who have done a Balcony GTY and ended up with a 8F and 8H. I feel you have a better chance getting a standard balcony vs a extended, ie 8F vs 8G. Often some of the 7A will sell on last minute booking.... When is your sailing date? Good luck. lalawgirl Posted April 11, 2008 #3 Share Posted April 11, 2008 With a BL, you'll get nothing less than an 8A.
GottaLuvCruising Posted April 11, 2008 #4 Share Posted April 11, 2008 You will not get a 7A. The balcony guarantee will be assigned an 8A or higher. Virtually all ships sail full or just about full, so that isn't a factor. It just depends on which specific categories sell out and which balconies are left. We booked a BL on the Spirit and got a 9A (Oh, happy day!)
Crusin Karen Posted April 11, 2008 #5 Share Posted April 11, 2008 Another question if anyone knows this....we always book an aft wraparound balcony cabin :D For the 1/2 of our AK B2B there were none available, so we just booked a regular balcony cabin, category 8H I believe. We have an assigned cabin already. I was looking on the deck plans and realized there are "extended balcony cabins" 8C, E, I and G. Are these more $ than the "regular balconies?" I am going to ask DH to call CCL and maybe change our cabin if it's the same price.
old sole Posted April 11, 2008 #6 Share Posted April 11, 2008 Normally, the prices rise with the letter, so an 8E would be more than an 8D but less than an 8F. Usually only $20-$30 PP per step, though.
hncg57c Posted April 11, 2008 #7 Share Posted April 11, 2008 For our upcoming cruise on the Spirit, as of right now, it seems like they are offering free upgrades to either an 8H or 8I when you book any balcony category. I guess these are the only available balcony cabins that can be chosen if you were to book our cruise now.
