Private Islands: Who owns what?

Greetings,

I have always wanted to ask this question regarding "private islands".

Disney has Castaway Key, Holland America has Half Moon Key, Princess has whatever, etc and so on. I believe Disney's island is truly their own (i.e. no other company uses it). Is this true for the rest of the cruise lines? I find it hard to believe that each crusie line has it's own private island. Just had to ask.

RCI and Celebrity (the same parent company) own Coco Cay and lease Labadee (which isn't an island--just a beach).

Why is it so hard to believe? There are quite a few private citizens who own their own islands!!! (Yes, they are rich citizens, but....)

NCL leases Great Stirrup Cay and Princess uses Half Moon Cay, too.

Most of the cruiselines who lease an island (or own, however you look at it) uses the island year-round. Maybe not every day, but very close to it. Each island has at least 2 staff members who live there. Their job ilook after things on the island and to make sure other private citizens don't just come ashore whenever they want to.

Labadee is off the coast of Haiti. The other private islands are in the Bahamas.
