What do you do...?

We are traveling for the summer with our 5 and 6 year old kids in Europe. We traveled for 5 weeks last summer in Spain and Portugal. Last year, our children wore id bracelets that had their name, our name and our cell phone numbers including country code. They also wore whistles around their necks in case we were seperated in big crowds. Does anyone have any other ideas for traveling with young children? We are very comfortable with them on the ship- it's off the ship that we tend to worry more about. Appreciate your input.

Thanks for GPS tips. We aren't overly worried, but we are gone longer this year. We are staying in some places (outside of the cruise) for longer periods of time, so we think we could slip into a more relaxed mode. The kids won't speak the language and as is sometimes the case, it takes only a few seconds for something to happen. I didn't know if there was an easy safety precaution that others may practice but we were not aware of- would rather lean towards safety if practicle. The whistle and the bracelet may be enough. GPS is certainly an option. Thank you for the feedback!
