ManOfTheHour Posted August 13, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 13, 2008 Are there only certain hours when your butler is available? And if not, is there more than one?
ManOfTheHour Posted August 13, 2008 Author #2 Share Posted August 13, 2008 Im just curious because it doesn't seem logical that one person would be servicing us 24/7, but from these posts it sounds like each person has a singular butler name "frank"... im just curous! retiredonthesea Posted August 13, 2008 #3 Share Posted August 13, 2008 We had one time that we called our Butler and got a message that he was on break and someone else would respond to our request. Sure enough another person answered and all was taken care of. On a couple of cruises we have had two Butlers. It does seem like they do work 24/7. Cosmopolitan Posted August 13, 2008 #4 Share Posted August 13, 2008 We have had butlers that insisted that we call ONLY them no matter what time of day/night. We've also had some who are not available late evening but if it's food that you need late in the evening, you can call room service. Usually, your butler will advise you if he will be off of the ship for a few hours at port and what extension to call for his/her relief butler. Rare ohioNCLcruiser Posted August 13, 2008 #5 Share Posted August 13, 2008 A "night Butler" is on the ship but like said above sometimes the Butler will tell you to call them anytime. If they don't do that and want their sleep they just forward their phones.
watchdiva Posted August 13, 2008 #6 Share Posted August 13, 2008 We've been blessed with great butlers on NCL and we've always been told to call them any hour day or night. If your "regular" butler is off-ship or has another commitment (like handling a dinner party for another pax) he/she makes sure that one of the other butlers covers for them. One evening, we had decided to have our dinner from LeBistro served in the suite - I mentioned it to our butler earlier in the day and he let us know that he would be handling a very large party for one of his other suites BUT that delivering our dinner was no problem and that if he couldn't do it personally, one of his colleagues would. Personally, we've never called our butler late night BUT we're very early risers and we were concerned that it would be a problem having our breakfast delivered each morning at 6:45:eek: - yet every morning (no matter how late he had worked the night before) our butler delivered breakfast with a smile NCL butlers are the best and once you sail in a suite, you never go back! VoyageVirgin Posted August 13, 2008 #7 Share Posted August 13, 2008 All butlers we have had the pleasure to have were available 24/7 - but we have only ever called after 10:00pm once - and that was when the liquor decided to take a dive off the bar - we did call the butler, got no answer (2:00 am) so we called the front desk and arranged for someone to come up and get the glass and booze off the floor/carpet. (Man, did that smell) The butler did call about 5 minutes later - and we did feel bad for awakening him - but the problem was resolved. There was quite a bit of breakage in the Pool Bar that evening as well - they were actually closed the following day to clean that mess up. Made me wonder why, especially in the bar area they weren't utilizing the plastic bottles? Maybe the cost is more? But then breakage cost alone on that one trip would have been fairly high as well. We have been told that if you order room service - they in turn will call the butler to deliver - so the order should go through the butler to begin with. Room stewards on the other hand will have a card in your room telling you what time they are on and off shift. Don't recall the time frame.
